Yates Michel Hill was born 18 May 1918 in Erie, Pennsylvania. His parents were Scott Shelby Hill and Beth Angeline Michel. His paternal grandparents were Tye Yates Hill and Lela Cole. His great-grandparents were Thomas Anderson Hill and Sarah Louise McGehee. Traces his ancestors and relatives who lived mainly in Scotland, Virginia and Texas.
John Toole (1756-1792) immigrated from Ireland to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, served in the Revolutionary War, and married Ruth Ann Rankin in 1779/1780. They moved to Washington County, Greene County, and Knox County, Tennessee. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and elsewhere.
