Peter Smith (d.ca. 1829) moved from New England to Ontario, Canada, with his parents about the time of the Revolutionary War. He married Mary Reed, and their youngest of nine children was William Reed Smith (1826-1894) who was left an orphan about 1829, and was cared for in the home of Samuel Parrish. The family immigrated to Stark County, Illinois in 1837 and became Mormon converts, moving to Utah in 1847. William Reed Smith married Emeline Leavitt in 1853. Descendants lived in Utah, Idaho, California, and some immigrated to Alberta Province, Canada.
