A genealogy of the maternal ancestors of Ronald Lee Secord born 23 June 1937 in Pontiac, Oakland Co., Michigan the son of Ralph Earl Secord (1903-1984) and Claudia Marie Hill. He married 1) 2 May 1977 Nancy Louise Rogers Goett and 2) 7 May 1987 Carol Marie Innes Ciocia.
Thomas Lawson was born in 1793, probably in Virginia. His parents wer Drury Lawson and Hannah Potts. He married Mary Ann Morgan (1796-1879) in about 1816 in Tennessee. They had fourteen children. He died in 1874 in Putnam County, Missouri. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, California and Washington.
Joshua Sweet was born in 1722/23 in East Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island. He married Susanna Nichols. They had two children. He died before 28 September 1748 in Danbury, Fairfield, Connecticut. Reverend Joshua Sweet (1812-1874) is believed to be the great grandson of Joshua and Susanna. He was born in Ogdensburg, New York. He married Julia Ann Berry (1827-1865) 28 May 1848. They had four children. He married Jeannette E. Sykes DeCamp, a widow and mother of five children, in 1866. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Connecticut, New York, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Montana and California.
James Atkinson was born prior to 1668, moved from Virginia to Somerset and Worcester Counties, Maryland, and died in 1717 or later. Descen- dants lived in Maryland, Ohio, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and elsewhere.
The Banning family is said to have come from Denmark, Holland, England and Ireland. The first Banning in America was Edward Banning, who settled in Talbot Co., Maryland prior to 1678. He is said to have come from England. He had three sons, James, who settled in Maryland and John and Samuel, who settled in Lyme, Connecticut abt. 1700. Fourty years later Benoni Banning came from Dublin, Ireland and settled in Talbot Co., Md. The Bannings of Delaware came from those in Maryland. Most descendants of James Banning of Maryland live in Ohio, Indiana, Delaware, Maryland and elsewhere. Members of the New York branch of Bannings migrated to Canada and the central and western United States.

Zadock Hawkins was born in about 1773 in Derby, New Haven, Connecticut. His parents were Eleazer Hawkins and Damaris Wooster. He married Lydia Wilmot, daughter of William Wilmot and Lydia Perkins, 4 August 1754. They had nine children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, New Brunswick, Ontario, New York, Indiana, Ohio Kansas, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.
Niklaus Beutler (1817-1890) was born to Johannes Beutler and Maria Haenni in the community of Wyl and was baptized at Schlosswyl, Bern, Switzerland. He married Rosina Andres (1819-1880) in 1840 at Muri, Bern, Switzerland. She was the daughter of Jakob Andres and Anna Blaser born at Oberdiessbach. Niklaus and Rosina lived in the community of Heimberg in the parish of Steffisburg, Switzerland. They immigrated to America in 1851 with the Johann Ulrich Andres family (Rosina's brother) and Peter Mutti arriving at New York City. They settled first at Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, and later in 1865/67 moved to Moniteau Co., Missouri. Includes five generations of descendants of Johann Ulrich Andres, who settled in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio in 1851. Descendants live in Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota, California; Alberta, Canada and elsewhere.
