Two excellent introductory works on the Orthoptera of Indiana and Minnesota but Of much wider general application, have been published. The first is by Professor W. S. Blatchley (27th Ann. Rept. Dept. Geol. And Nat. Resources Of Indiana for 1902, 1903, vol. 9, p. 123 the second by Professor Otto Lugger (3d Ann. Rept. State Exp. Sta., Univ. Minn. For 1897, 1898, xi+ 296 From these two works many of the illustrations in this Manual are drawn.
