This is a guidebook for helping the people who govern, administer, and staff the public libraries of Illinois to develop and maintain high quality library services in their commuinities. The 1997 edition has been updated by the accompanying additions pages. Chapter IV, "Collection Management," has two new sections: "Electronic resources, workstations" and "AV materials." Core standard 20 has been revised; Core standard 30 and two additional supplemental standards have been added . Chapter IX, "Faciities," has a new section called "Implications of technology on designing/remodeling a building." Appendix 4.4, Audiovisual table, has been added.
