Originally published in 1991, at a time when computer messages included letter prompts like “A>” to indicate the source drive, A>LOVERBOY imagines the world as it might be at the start of the 21st century. Lucy Beckwith, a computer whiz, gets messages through her computer from someone who calls himself Loverboy and claims to be crazy about her. His messages are so romantic, she finds herself falling for him. He’s the antithesis of Jim Kazan, her colleague at Access Computer Systems. Voted the Sexiest Felon of 1988 thanks to his illegal hacking, Jim is brilliant, arrogant and egotistical. She fears he’s going to take over her work project, and she resents the way he flirts with every female he sees. Jim may flirt, but Lucy is the woman he wants. That she’s pretty is a bonus, but her intelligence is what really turns him on. Yet he can’t seem to break through her defenses the way Loverboy can. Jim may be a tech genius, but winning Lucy’s affection might be impossible when he’s competing against a mystery lover like Loverboy.
Secrets, desires, and exquisite pie. It’s all in a day’s work at The Company. Growing up, I was the rough guy from the wrong neighborhood who couldn’t catch a break. Posy was the pampered girl I tried to impress. But all she gave me was a single kiss before I had to skip town. Now I’m back, and the tables are turned. Posy runs a struggling pie shop. I’m the VP of a secretive billion-dollar security company. Not that I can tell her. There’s a murderer on the loose in New York, and he seems to spend a lot of time at Posy’s shop. It’s my job to identify him before he can harm a hair on her pretty head. Going undercover as Posy’s new barista wasn’t my idea. I don’t even drink coffee. But now I have to call her “boss,” and do everything the curvy perfectionist asks of me. I’d forgotten how much we infuriate each other, and that she somehow fills me with both irritation and desire in the same breath. There’s nobody more skilled at stealth ops than me. I can bring this killer down. Right after I take a cold shower. And just as soon as I figure out how to make a skinny peppermint latte with milk poured in the shape of a kitten... ******* I adored Loverboy! Luke Bannister swore he'd never return to his hometown of Chandler, Arizona. He was sick of being labeled a delinquent and sick of his father's constant abuse. But most of all, he was sick of hearing that he wasn't good enough for Meg Hennessy. So he lit out for Hollywood, looking for his big break. Meg couldn't believe it! After ten years, Luke was finally coming home. Her childhood sweetheart, now daytime TV's sexiest star, had built the reputation of being a "loverboy." Well, he'd better not expect her to join his harem. He'd dumped her once—she wasn't about to let it happen again!
A paranoid delusion and fantastic comedy in the service of social realism. This is the tale of an orphan whose only known background is that of the city itself, a scaffold-covered grid sewn together with 'Do Not Cross' tape. Here Love is expressed through corrective surgery, and families meet across boardroom tables.
Dr. Joseph Peck, a respected and caring physician, has one vice - he's addicted to love. And one unusual secret - his best friend since high-school is a retired Mafia Don.Anna Franklin, stunning, ruthless and intelligent, learns this secret. She also discovers her husband will soon seek divorce, relegating her to a pre-nup pittance instead of billions were he to die - soon.Seeking the friends' assistance in arranging this speedy demise, she offers both men millions, plus an extra 'quid pro Joe' for the good doctor - sexual romps sufficiently intense to make Peck's recent, prolonged carnal dry-spell a vague memory. The Don knows but one ex-associate to call upon for the hit - another retiree, known as Lover Boy, who, at age 73, is still able to live up to his deadly reputation - and his nickname.Their one obstacle? - Detective Jane Rieger, a beautiful, troubled cop with a checkered past whose love life has also recently turned non-existent. Committed to unraveling the conspiracy, Jane soon realizes that bringing everyone to justice will have the unintended consequence of adding to her personal, growing list of woes. Thus, she will face more than one grim, difficult choice.Lover Boy is a crime caper mixing humor with pathos, filled with quirky characters and often hilarious dialogue - all leading to an unexpected conclusion not soon forgotten.
Sad Lover Boy is my first literary child. I think I've birthed some good words that are interesting to read. This is a largely personal poetry book. I think the juxtaposition throughout this book is fun, one minute you might be reading a serious passage about my depressive view of the state of the world, then the next you're reading a weird poem I sent a girl that's a conversation between a duck and a pigeon, but there's meaning and thought behind both. In essence, these are poems from someone who's spending their 20s in the 2020s. If you're older than me this might provide interesting insights, if you're the same age enjoy the zoomer doomer humour, if you're younger probably don't read this there's bad words.
The sinister roots of the strike, they would discover, are several decades deep and can be traced to one man - Masood Azhar - and the empire of terror he created in Kashmir.

Where the Road Bottoms Out delivers us to the scenes of a young woman's battles against the various forces that would rob her of her freedom -- the relations that define her apart from how she would define herself. These are stories of what it means to be embedded in the multiform drama of parent and child: here a mother buries her children; there daughters watch grieving fathers and fathers scamming. Punctuated by dislocation and loss, this drama often turns on the inevitable moment that intimacy and love overlap with something that feels like violence, or at the point when a new kind of awareness is achieved as the solitary voice of one daughter dissolves into a "we" of sisters. Redel's charged and lyrical fictions enact a movement both away from a life and toward taking possession of a life. Over mountains, from hotel to hotel, in cars, on foot, we follow her determined journey to record her adventures as a first-generation American and as a writer of English prose. Here is a striking debut. Sixteen stories that combine an uncompromising and definitive "No!" with an astonishing tenderness.
