Abstract: Nonfood compounds authorized by Chemistry Division, Science, Food Safety and Quality Service for use in slaughtering and processing plants operating under the USDA Poultry, Meat, Rabbit, Shell Egg Grading and Egg Products Inspection Programs are listed. A nonfood compound is any agent proposed for use in a federally inspected plant but not intended as an ingredient of meat, poultry, rabbit or egg product. Procedures for obtaining compound authorization are given. Listed and unlisted compounds need USDA authorization. Denaturants; outdoor pesticides; compounds used in nonprocessing areas, cafeterias, heating systems, or holding pens do not require evaluation. Compounds listed as not applicable for evaluation may not be used in the processing area of a plant. Category code letters designate restrictions for use of each compound. Instructions for use of the list are given.

Copies of such letters must be supplied at all times to Federal inspectors as proof of authorization, since the compounds cannot be listed in this publication. Such letters remain valid as proof of authorization until revoked by fiad. The final granting of authorization to use such compounds which do not come in direct or indirect contact with edible products or packaging materials is the responsibility of the Inspector in Charge at the official plant. Technical assistance will be provided by fiad upon request. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
