Life leaves a mark-a limp-a scar... in exchange for a song-a kiss-a star... Author, GreenBranch, aka Dorothy Phyllis Miller, writes this historical novel based on a true story in moving scenes depicting the life of a young woman born to an immigrant family, who faces prejudice, traumatic deaths, upheaval and shocks with innocence and artlessness-lessons learned by which readers may benefit or share. Entertaining and instructive, you will want to follow this true story (enhanced by some fiction to mellow the drama.) to the surprising end. In the literary world, the author's Canadian magazine, Single Minded, published in the late 1980's, received good reviews; was sold to Singles USA in Ohio in 1987.

People say that what were all seeking is a meaning for life. I dont think thats what were really seeking. I think that what were seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences, on the purely physical plane, resonate with our own innermost being, so that we actually feel the rapture of being fully alive. At the heart of Henri Nouwen’s theology is the idea that the spiritual life is a process of transforming negatives into positives, of living between two polarities, of learning to embrace darkness and light at the same time. In this new anthology of Nouwen’s writings, Michael Ford traces Nouwen’s understanding of the human emotions following the course of his literary career. From his earliest works as a young psychology lecturer, his famous paperbacks which emerged during his days as a professor at Yale and Harvard to his remarkable output before and after his breakdown at l’Arche, Ford makes selections which not only chart the writer’s intense fascination with his own psycho-spiritual development but, at the same time, enable us to make connections with our own emotional struggles, helping us to make positives out of our own negatives.
Timeless in their wisdom, thought-provoking in their message, surprising in their truth and memorable in their originality, the right words can give direction, inspiration, and sometimes a tangible boost onto the right path. For example, Steve Jobs once read “Stay hungry Stay foolish” on the back cover of The Whole Earth Catalog, and those four words came to guide his life. Created by Kathryn and Ross Petras, connoisseurs of quotes, whose books and calendars have over 56 million copies in print, "Dance First. Think Later." is a collection of the greatest life wisdom from an unexpected group of speakers, doers, and thinkers. There are 618 rules to live by—funny, sly, declarative, thoughtful, offhanded, clever, and always profound: “Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you, because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.” —Roald Dahl “If everything is under control, you are going too slow.” —Mario Andretti “Never make a credit decision on a beach.”—Victor J. Boschini “Dance first. Think later. It’s the natural order.”—Samuel Beckett “The only time to eat diet food is while waiting for the steak to cook.” —Julia Child “What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight; build it anyway.” —Mother Teresa And: “Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.”—Oscar Wilde
Hoodoo Blues is a Role Playing Game of supernatural beliefs from America's Old South. Players play the ageless, those who have lived through (sometimes suffered through) decades or centuries of Southern history.
