Part I of the study covers a survey conducted among 31 media organizations in Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Ghana, Benin and Chad; part II consists of case studies in Benin, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Burkina Faso. The five major themes selected for the questionnaire were inter-ethnic relations, religious tolerance, social information, human rights stricto sensu, and the "minority" groups.
