It is almost a Herculean task writing the foreword of this very important book, Lay Hold on Eternal Life, having also been its editor. I thank Reverend Folorunso Joseph for giving me such a rare privilege. Lay Hold on Eternal Life is not the work of a man but of the Holy Spirit of God. It will show you that although many people, by their faith in Jesus Christ, receive eternal life of God, many are not able to attain eternal life with God, largely because they lack the revelation about what to do. According to the author, many depend on their own strength to run the Christian race but are consistently frustrated by Satan and his fallen angels. But wise Christians know that it is neither by power nor by might but by the Spirit of the Lord. As you read this most inspiring book, you will see heaven clearer than ever. You will come to the knowledge that those who attain the kingdom and inherit all things are not defeated believers but Christians who overcome. You will therefore be stirred to seek first the kingdom of God at the expense of the mundane things of the world that perish with time. It will strengthen you to lay hold on eternal life and press forward at all times (like Apostle Paul) to attain the crown of glory, which awaits anyone who finishes his race well. This book is destined to be a spiritual classic. It will expose to you satanic institutions and strategies he and his fallen angels use to lure man out of grace. It will increase your faith in Jesus Christ, enrich your hope in him, and enlarge you in the grace of the Savior. It will help you to overcome fear and unbelief and to avoid those things that the Lord says will not help anyone to overcome and inherit the kingdom of God. The authors presentation is quite vivid and practical and will leave you with a great hope of attaining eternal life and of reigning with the Lord forever. Lanre Jacob
Our world has thousands of different religions, and these religions have their own ideas of what salvation is and how to gain it. Even within Christianity, there are different ideas and views about salvation. There is so much disinformation and misinformation by false teachers and prophets about salvation. Salvation is life and life is all about salvation. The truth about salvation is faith in Jesus Christ alone (only way and the truth). Knowing Jesus personally means that we will have eternal life. Key drivers of our salvation are: The lost in the lost church (The church and members lacks fire, passion, power, and hearing from God), Don't compromise your faith & Salvation (Fight a good fight of faith and remain faithful), Your Tongue is the key to your Salvation, you must be born again to keep your ticket to Heaven, I never Knew You, depart from me: Busted Salvation, invest in The Kingdom of God (heavenly investments are long-lasting than worldly), Tattoo mania (Believers don't need tattoos but Holy Spirit), and visualizing City of God daily is active salvation-heaven in my mind all the time.
God's New Testament Economy is a thorough study of the New Testament. It does not provide superficial inspiration nor is it a dry, systematic analysis. However, in this book Witness Lee presents a revelation of the Triune God's plan that will both inform and encourage the reader to pursue a full experience of our wonderful Triune God.
How is a person sure to be saved? How can they build up assurance of salvation and reject a profane life? What can they do to overcome sin and please King Jesus? These sermons all have a common thread running through them: to show you how to lay hold of salvation in Jesus Christ. Gifford is very precise in laying out what each text means, as well as giving a careful and thorough explanation taking ample time to bring to light practical perspectives on his texts. In this, he will bring these topics home to your soul, and you will be a better Christian for reading him. In his first sermon on taking hold of eternal life, Gifford explains, “Charge them that are rich in this world … that they may lay hold on eternal life,” (1 Tim. 6:17-19). He will show you how to lay up the good foundation you need in order to stand secure in Christ at the judgement to come. In his second sermon on the three that bear record in heaven, he explains, quite thoroughly, 1 John 5:7-13. There are three that bear record in heaven, and three that bear witness in earth. And between these “six” there is Scriptural and covenantal agreement concerning the manner of salvation, the assurance that one can have of it. Disciples of Christ, “know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” In his third sermon on rejecting the blessing of God, he explains Hebrews 12:16-17, “Let there be any fornicator, or profane person as Esau...” He is thorough on the Genesis narrative to show why Esau was profane, and how people today may also be profane following Esau’s example. His insightful comments in this sermon are exceedingly valuable and ought to be read with great soul-care. His last sermon is on continuing in sin once a disciple is converted. Romans 6:1-14, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid!” Can disciples sin? Can they sin “big” and still be saved? He takes great pains, and shows a careful step by step explanation on what Paul is teaching throughout the sixth chapter of Romans; a chapter, today, often misunderstood, and overlooked. Gifford is very easy to read, yet, exegetically sound and practically deep. May the Lord bless you as you take time to study along with Gifford on how to lay hold of Jesus Christ for eternal life. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.
