Bishop Bowman then delivered a brief address to the Con ference, and said that it was most appropriate that such an annual assembly should be opened by gathering, at the Lord's table. He then gave a very lucid and impressive exposition of that great doctrine. Of our holy faith, Christian perfection. Marie, Mich., Sept. 5-10, 1894 The Bishop read for scripture lessons, Malachi, chap. III, and I Thess, chap. III. Hymn 160 was announced and sung: When all Thy mercies, O, my God. Preliminary to the administration of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper, the Bishop discoursed effectively open some of the significant truths embodied in that ordinance. The pastor of the church and the Presiding Elders of the Conference assisted the Bishop in the consecration and distribution of the elements, three hundred and thirty persons partaking. With prayer by the Bishop there closed an unusually devotional and inspiring communion service. The roll was called by Wm. Dawe, Secretary of the last Conference. The following 140 responded to their names: Seth Reed, Alanson R. Bartlett, Andrew J. Bigelow, Elisha E. Caster, Theron C. Higgins, Jesse B. Russell, Lucius S. Tedman, Wm. J. Campbell, Thos.
