Benjamin Franklin Johnson was the grandson of Jacob Johnson (1815- 1900), who was born in Lincoln co., Kentucky and married twice.
Jasper Kinnick was born circa 1693. He married Elizabeth Brightwell, daughter of Richard Brightwell and Katherine, circa 1715 in Maryland. They had two children. He died in 1733 in Charles County, Maryland. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Maryland, Indiana, Illionis and Iowa.
James Prichard (ca. 1746-1818/1821) married Elizabeth Hughes about 1775, served in the Revolutionary War, and moved from Maryland to Jefferson (later Shelby, later Henry) County, Kentucky about 1786. Descendants lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas, Florida, California and elsewhere.

Between 1854 and 1864, more than a hundred free African Americans in Virginia proposed to enslave themselves and, in some cases, their children.
