My book is my memoir. It highlights the ups and downs of living with kidney disease. I think it could appeal to readers of all ages. It is filled with gratitude and hope. It illustrates that life after receiving a transplant (or two) is a wonderful journey. I would love to have a positive impact on the donor rate in Canada by people reading my book. This is an important message. It is also a reflection of the “normalcy” that can be achieved after receiving the gift of life (a transplant). My kids are both truly miracles and their stories, as they relate to mine, need to be shared as well.
Formerly a Captain in the Paras, Jay McCaulay is highly trained, tough and resourceful. She's been working in Bristol with the aid agency TRACE for two years, helping track and unite families separated by conflict. But Jay receives an unwelcome reminder of her army past when a young Macedonian girl she once saved goes missing - just as a Macedonian crime boss turns up in Bristol. Thrown back into a world that inspires paranoia, where brutal Mafia thugs run riot and her family and loved ones are threatened, Jay is forced to confront a trail of murder, corruption and evil that leads into the heart of London and threatens everything she has ever held dear . . . Gone Without Trace is another gripping and fast-paced thriller from CJ Carver, author of Blood Junction.
One brutal murder. Two possible suspects. And a “fascinating . . . puzzling case” that divided a Michigan community (Lansing State Journal). In the summer of 1982, the body of twenty-year-old Maggie Hume was found under a pile of blankets in the closet of her apartment. A Catholic school girl and daughter of a local football coach, Maggie had been raped and strangled. It was the only active murder investigation in Battle Creek, Michigan, suggesting the case would be an easy victory for authorities. Plus, they already had two persons of interest on watch. Maggie’s neighbor, Michael Ronning, confessed to the crime. Yet it was Maggie’s boyfriend, Jay Carter, who failed the polygraph, and whose account of his whereabouts on the night of the murder kept changing. Unfortunately, the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office and Battle Creek Police Department couldn’t agree on whom to charge. And the city soon took sides. Cracking open three decades of never-before-seen evidence, this real-life whodunit exposes the dark secrets and tragic infighting that turned the murder of Maggie Hume into an unwinnable contest of wills, egos, politics, and the law—a contest that, to this day, isn’t over.
God is furious. He has run out of patience with humans and decided that our time is over. We've had our chance and it's back to the drawing board. Mo, and Jay, best friends who've screwed up in the past, beg him for one more chance to get the humans back on track. Alongside Mr Saluzar, the head of a global charity foundation, and Nick, The Fallen Angel, they hurtle towards Armageddon and their one chance to prove God wrong. They have seven days to save us. Praise for On The Seventh Day: “I don't know any other writer with the diversity of Mr Wilson when it comes to putting his stories on paper, the only guarantee is they're Scottish. “ – Amazon reader. “A strange mix of book. It made me howl with laughter in places, and in others made me consider my place in the universe, sometimes immediately after each other. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it. A very funny, and very clever book. “ – Mark Tilbury – author of The Abattoir of Dreams. “Wilson seems to be revelling in his native North Lanarkshire's new confidence and swagger. Although he has never shied away from writing in his native tongue, this book flows beautifully, despite the subject matter.” – Des McAnulty, author of Life is Local. “In American Gods Neil Gaiman humanized the Gods wonderfully. In this book Mark Wilson humanizes God and the supernaturals terribly, awe-fully and disgustingly! And it is brilliant! “ – Colette Brown, author of The Prescription.
"You're dead." This threat may differ from those reverberating in a victim's head, but the innuendo always remains the same. One in three women are or will be abused by an intimate partner. Bill Carter, executive producer of CNN’s docuseries The Story of Late Night and host of the Behind the Desk: Story of Late Night podcast, details the chaotic transition of The Tonight Show from host Jay Leno to Conan O’Brien—and back again. In 2010, NBC’s CEO Jeff Zucker, had it all worked out when he moved Jay Leno from behind the desk at The Tonight Show, and handed the reins over to Conan O'Brien. But his decision was a spectacular failure. Ratings plummeted, affiliates were enraged—and when Zucker tried to put everything back the way it was, that plan backfired as well. No one is more uniquely suited to document the story of a late-night travesty than veteran media reporter and bestselling author, Bill Carter. In candid detail, he charts the vortex that sucked in not just Leno and O'Brien—but also Letterman, Stewart, Fallon, Kimmel, and Ferguson—as frantic agents and network executives tried to manage a tectonic shift in television’s most beloved institution.
You've gotten away with it for so long, you think you're immune to the danger. . . At thirty-three, Don Hawkins has spent the better part of his life, in every sense, as a U.S. Marine. Enlisting to escape an alcoholic father and stepmother, he became the unofficial leader of a group of gay servicemen and women, all compelled to guard their sexual identity as faithfully as they serve their country. But with newly inaugurated President Clinton's promise to lift the ban on gays in the military, Don is optimistic that a brighter era is dawning--and not just politically. Ten years now since his lover died in Beirut, Don is finally ready to love again, and falls headlong for Patrick, a handsome young helicopter pilot. As their relationship develops, Don lets his guard down--in potentially dangerous ways. Because forces are at work in the Naval Investigative Service, in Congress, and even in the bars and clubs that Don views as his turf, with a vicious agenda that will have unforeseen consequences. . . Drawing on his own experiences as a Marine, Rich Merritt has crafted an extraordinary story of love, loss, duty, betrayal, and hope. Most of all, Code of Conduct is a deeply compelling exploration of the power of loyalty--to friends, lovers, country, and the unwavering dictates of our own hearts.
