Conservatives are busy trying to save the world. The world is going to heck in a handbasket, and liberals are trying to figure out whether to hold angry peace rallies or celebrate the environment by leaving their signs on the grass for productive people to clean up. If only they knew how many trees and bunny rabbits were murdered on 9/11 by people unconcerned with carbon emissions. Liberals like to declare every conservative on the planet to be either evil or stupid. Ideological Idiocy is about their declaration of our being unenlightened dolts. This is ideological idiocy. Having liberals declare the author stupid is like listening to members of the KKK call him insensitive. Conservatives must remember that our critics do not matter. Nobody listens to these crying children. For those that do not have a blunt instrument nearby, or are looking for a solution that avoids jail, humor is a powerful weapon. Use it against the left every moment they breathe. They may get offended, but that is the point. The only thing that the author wants to communicate in this book is that without love and laughter, there is no life. Nothing he does will change the world, but if it gets a stiff person to lighten up and smile, he is pleased.

Eyes of Sophia is a true love story which confirms the multi-dimensional nature of our existence. This story shows us that we really do co-create our lives in concert with a loving and organizing Divine Presence, Sophia, which speaks to us through our hearts. Too often we are easily intimidated by the authority and advice of the outer world and cease to trust these tender feelings which offer us continual and perfect guidance. The magical tapestry of events we experience when reading Eyes of Sophia is given credence by a series of extraordinary photographs and we are blessed with the revelation that, indeed, we can attain our hearts' desires. "This book is an extraordinary account by two extraordinary people. Given the premise that Sophia's world lies hidden and invisible within this one the continual synchronicities abounding in this true story make sense, if not serving as proof of its existence. Though the account is extremely personal it touches the universal and thus becomes meaningful to anyone reading it. It's Donna's loving and enthusiastic eye that reveals it and Alan's charming and rational acceptance that gives it form. I marvel that I had the privilege of playing a small part in this unusual drama!" -Alice O. Howell Author of The Web in the Sea and The Dove in the Stone "You and Donna have experienced, certainly at a feeling state, at least one other cognitive band of this total reality and you appear to have some space-time cognitive data in the form of your pictures to confirm that something extra-ordinary was happening." -William A. Tiller, PhD Author of Science and Human Transformation (written after viewing the photographs, September, 1995) "This is a truly spiritual book, in which the presence of divine love allows the experience of human love to flourish. It can be read as a romantic story like Bridges of Madison County, but here the romance is allowed to flourish and lead to a sustained relationship, and there is an experience of divine grace as well as human passion." -Harvey Honig Jungian Analyst "Exceptionally written by two brilliant souls, one who--although already knowing she was on her perfect path--still continued to question the symbols along the way; while the other's eyes were slowly beginning to focus on truth and authenticity instead of the superfluous. Each overlooked the external to follow the twisting, winding path that was filled with intent and purpose. It is a rarity to find individuals so willing to lovingly examine and absorb the many messages the rest of us ignore as we go about our lives on 'auto pilot.' A wonderful, refreshing true love story that affirms the closer we get to our own authentic selves, the more blissful our joy--joy that flourishes in the knowledge that there are no accidents and that cause never was the reason." -Kimberly Largent Managing Editor The Health Strategist Eyes of Sophia is a love story...a grand and wondrous love story about the authors, and their relationship with Sophia, the Spirit in their hearts. Further, Donna May and Alan Chien have given us a story about synchronicity and destiny...and the ability to listen to, and the courage to follow our hearts. Abundant synchronicities (events that on the level of cause and effect are amazing coincidences) brought Donna May and Alan together, and together, and together...each time deepening their relationship. Included in the synchronicities are a series of intriguing photographs which give credence to the story. Eyes of Sophia is a transformational story that teaches the creative use of metaphor in understanding the relevance and significance of coincidences. Creatively woven together in the events in this story are spiritual metaphors of the Wizard of Oz, the Tree of Life, Kabbala and the dynamics of the life-force and chakras, including the splenic chakra. One important lesson Eyes of Sophia teaches us is that we must listen to our own hearts...and not yield to the rules that others inflict upon us; we must be true to ourselves. We must stay attuned to our heart and listen to what it is telling us and keep our thoughts and the images in our mind centered in that. Further, we all have tremendous creative imagination working for us at all times: It's so important to understand that we use the same power of imagination every moment and it will create in accordance with our intenet and beliefs! We can't afford not to pay attention to the quality of our beliefs, motives, and what we look for and how we picture it! Eyes of Sophia tells a magical, miraculous and marvelous story of finding love and Spirit. Donna May and Alan Chien are blessed...and teach us that we too, can achieve what is in our hearts...a dream come true! Richard Fuller Senior Editor Metaphysical Reviews
Its Only Cigars is an all-American story about truth, justice, and every Americans right to smoke a Cuban. Cigar, that is not kill one. Its Only Cigars is a political satire that evokes the right to have the right to have a hundred Cubans. And to puff them too! Its a narrative non-fiction saga about a trek through Americas legal jurisprudence system that leads the reader to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth behind the humor door with the federal court case U.S. vs. 100 Cuban Cigars and reminds one of another Catch-22 fable. Its also a tale about abuse.About how much money the government will spend; how many agents used; and, how much time wasted with preventing the common citizen from smoking a fine Cuban stoogie. Finally, its an anecdote about the myth behind THE (Cuban) embargo. Why there is one; who really wants it or is against it; and, why it will remain long after Castro departs his perch.
Of all the job titles listed in the opening and closing screen credits, producer is certainly the most amorphous. There are businessmen (and women)-producers, writer-director- and movie-star-producers; producers who work for the studio; executive producers whose reputation and industry clout alone gets a project financed (though their day-to-day participation in the project may be negligible). The job title, regardless of the actual work involved, warrants a great deal of prestige in the film business; it is the credited producers, after all, who collect the Oscar for Best Picture. But what producers do and what they don’t or won’t do varies from project to project. Producing is the first book to provide a comprehensive overview of the roles that producers have played in Hollywood, from the dawn of the twentieth century to the present day. It introduces readers to the colorful figures who helped to define and reimagine the producer’s role, including inventors like Thomas Edison, moguls like Darryl F. Zanuck, entrepreneurs like Walt Disney, and mavericks like Roger Corman. Readers also get an inside look at the less glamorous jobs producers have often performed: shepherding projects through many years of development, securing financial backers, and supervising movie shoots. The latest book in the acclaimed Behind the Silver Screen series, Producing includes essays written by seven film scholars, each an expert in a different period of cinema history. Together, they give readers a full picture of how the art and business of producing films has changed over time—and how the producer’s myriad job duties continue to evolve in the digital era.

An invitation to stay at one of Dubai’s exclusive hotels is received thanks to Don Luis Fernandez Rodrigues, a Colombian cartel drug baron turned legitimate film backer for the film, “Zombie Apocalypse: The Final Resolution,” which Ben’s family have parts in. They find themselves guests for the weekend and are determined to take full advantage of the unexpected getaway. It is here that Ben begins to discover the seedier side of the UAE, the amazingly beautiful place that has allowed his imagination to run riot. The trouble with Ben’s past is it has a habit of catching up with him.
After a robust career in the Netherlands as the country's most successful director, Paul Verhoeven (b. 1938) built an impressive career in the United States with such controversial blockbusters as RoboCop, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Starship Troopers, and Showgirls before returning home to direct 2006's Black Book. After a recent stint as a reality television judge in the Netherlands, Verhoeven returned to the big screen with his first feature film in a decade, a highly anticipated French-language production, Elle, starring Isabelle Huppert. Verhoeven, who holds an advanced degree in mathematics and physics, boasts a fascinating background. Traversing Hollywood, the Dutch film industry, and now French filmmaking, the interviews in this volume reveal a complex, often ambiguous figure, as well as a director of immense talent. Paul Verhoeven: Interviews covers every phase of the director's career, beginning with six newly translated Dutch newspaper interviews dating back to 1968 and ending with a set of previously unpublished interviews dedicated to his most recent work. He experimented with crowd-sourced filmmaking for the television show The Entertainment Experience, which resulted in the film Tricked, as well as his latest feature Elle. Editor Margaret Barton-Fumo includes "Sex, Cinema and Showgirls," a long out-of-print essay by Verhoeven on his most controversial film, accompanied by pages of original storyboards from this and some of Verhoeven's other films. Finally, Barton-Fumo allots due attention to the director's little-known lifelong fascination with the historical Jesus Christ. Verhoeven is the only non-theologian member of the exclusive Westar Institute and author of the book Jesus of Nazareth.
