This book gathers selected peer-reviewed papers from the 15th World Congress on Engineering Asset Management (WCEAM), which was hosted by The Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul Campo Grande, Brazil, from 15–-18 August 2021 This book covers a wide range of topics in engineering asset management, including: strategy and standards; sustainability and resiliency; servitisation and Industry 4.0 business models; asset information systems; and asset management decision-making. The breadth and depth of these state-of-the-art, comprehensive proceedings make them an excellent resource for asset management practitioners, researchers, and academics, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.
This book covers a wide range of management issues, concerning planning, control and continuous improvement. It especially focuses on the management of the enterprise and production processes in the era of globalization, discussing the process of transferring production to developing countries, covering issues in technological culture, and reporting on quality control issues and on problems related to continuous process improvement. Modern strategies such as Six Sigma and lean manufacturing are also discussed. Another topic concerns the management of the education sphere, and how to develop the latter to prepare employees to the changes brought by the technical development. Based on papers presented at the 6th International Scientific-Technical Conference MANUFACTURING 2019, held in Poznan, Poland on May 19–22, 2019, this book bridges issues in quality engineering with concepts of ergonomics and sociology, thus offering a timely, practice-oriented guide to both the engineers and managers of the future.
This volume provides a complete record of presentations made at Industrial Engineering, Management Science and Applications 2015 (ICIMSA 2015), and provides the reader with a snapshot of current knowledge and state-of-the-art results in industrial engineering, management science and applications. The goal of ICIMSA is to provide an excellent international forum for researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to share cutting-edge developments in the field and to exchange and distribute the latest research and theories from the international community. The conference is held every year, making it an ideal platform for people to share their views and experiences in industrial engineering, management science and applications related fields.
Manufacturing Techniques for Materials: Engineering and Engineered provides a cohesive and comprehensive overview of the following: (i) prevailing and emerging trends, (ii) emerging developments and related technology, and (iii) potential for the commercialization of techniques specific to manufacturing of materials. The first half of the book provides the interested reader with detailed chapters specific to the manufacturing of emerging materials, such as additive manufacturing, with a valued emphasis on the science, technology, and potentially viable practices specific to the manufacturing technique used. This section also attempts to discuss in a lucid and easily understandable manner the specific advantages and limitations of each technique and goes on to highlight all of the potentially viable and emerging technological applications. The second half of this archival volume focuses on a wide spectrum of conventional techniques currently available and being used in the manufacturing of both materials and resultant products. Manufacturing Techniques for Materials is an invaluable tool for a cross-section of readers including engineers, researchers, technologists, students at both the graduate level and undergraduate level, and even entrepreneurs.
Exploring a variety of methods for improving the economic performance of organizations, this multidisciplinary text covers macro- and micro-perspectives while considering strategic planning, systematic process analysis, leadership studies, group dynamics, and human motivation theories. It highlights "quality of relationships" as a guiding principle within the framework of public administration and stresses customer, client, and stakeholder satisfaction. With over 1000 literature references, tables, drawings, and equations, and appendices of laws and regulations, the book responds to the mandate for high performance and increased productivity.
The book explains the importance of and investigates the quality management aspects in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sectors. It emphasizes on the need of quality management practice and explores the applicability of various quality tools in MSMEs and stages in company where quality management practices are applied. Various topics covered in this book include control charts, Pareto charts, customer relationship management, failure mode effect analysis, QMS implementation stages, competitiveness, and benefits of QM practices. This book will be useful for the researchers and industry professionals from the areas of mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and manufacturing.
Circular-Economy is a new concept in operations management. Its goal is to redefine growth, focusing on positive benefits arising for society as a whole out of efficiencies such as designing waste out the operations process. This book will help practitioners use the proper strategy for effective adoption of Circular practices to use in their organization. Features: Provides a complete understanding of Circular-Economy practices Offers advanced mathematical models to help industry management adopt the correct practices Presents a deep understanding of cross-functional and customer-focused design thinking Covers how to develop sustainable practices in all types of activities within operations management. Circular Economy for the Management of Operations will be of interest to practitioners and researchers in engineering as well as business management
We are in what many call “The Age of the Customer.” Customers are empowered more than ever before and demand a high level of customer attention and service. Their increasing expectations and demands worldwide have forced organizations to transform themselves and prepare for the customer experience (CX) battlefield. This landmark book addresses: What customer experience really means Why it matters Whether it has any substantial business impact What your organization can do to deliver and sustain your CX efforts, and How we got to this particular point in CX history This book is the result of exhaustive research conducted to incorporate various components that affect customer experience. Based on the research results, the authors make a case for seeing CX and associated transformations as the next natural evolution of the quality management system (QMS) already in place in most companies. Using an existing QMS as the foundation for CX not only creates a more sustainable platform, but it allows for a faster and more cost effective way to enable an organization to attain world-class CX.
Organisations are now focused on total customer satisfaction. However there is a lack of understanding the requirements and the customer needs. Total Quality Management (TQM) integrates all phases and ensures a defect free quality product. This textbook provides the understanding of all aspects of TQM and the implementation. This textbook covers all aspects of TQM, discusses quality systems in detail, highlights the importance of the needs of the customer, and presents the concept of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). Written as a textbook for students of engineering and management, but also explains all quality systems which will be helpful to all organisations in choosing the correct quality system and helpful to managers in decision making while analyzing any process. A solutions manual and power point presentations slides are available for qualified adoptions.
