This view of the war from the mess deck of a fleet tug is far different from those written from a flag bridge vantage. A Navy radio man, Ted Mason recalls his years of action in the Pacific with candor and humor, offering perceptive evaluations of shipmates and exhibiting cool skepticism toward his leaders. The USS Pawnee rescued many ships during her 25-month tour of the South and Western Pacific, and this story of the heroics performed by her crew makes intriguing reading.
I Will Stand Alone, the first book in The Women in Love series, follows Dominique, a young French girl paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. She is beautiful, wealthy, and an author. Will her life end up in the wheelchair or will handsome American author Greg Gregory be just the encouragement she needs to feel alive once more, fall in love, and walk again? This inspiring novel takes place near the French Pyrenees Mountains and also in Paris, where the author fell in love with the city. "Picasso once walked into the Louvre carrying his brushes and paint box, ready to correct a flaw in one of his paintings. I feel the same way when I finish a book. I want to add a line say something differently or change a line of dialogue."

The hilarious tale following the diary of a man as he takes on the ultimate cycling challenge - to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats, dragging his father-in-law; his Bike Buddy, with him. A man who is grumpy, overweight, unfit, with knackered knees and high blood pressure. A man more likely to die than succeed. Over three weeks, Gooderham tells of his battle through the country. A light-hearted and jovial tale of one man's quest to beat his mid-life crisis. I Will Stand in my House Forever is the real story behind the fictional Ten Bodies, Two Bikes and a Boil. Much of the text is similar to the original, but includes the final two chapters of what actually happened. For those who don't want fiction - but want real life comedy - this is the book for you. I Will Stand in my House Forever is a must read for anyone who has already cycled, or is contemplating the challenge and includes daily maps, road and traffic conditions as well as the contour of the route.
A refreshingly honest and often humorous look at some believers' outlandish behaviors helps bridge the communication gap between Christians and non-Christians, helping Christians share their beliefs more freely without judgmental attitudes, hypocrisy, and condemnation. Original.
At Le Cateau on 26 August 1914, the commanders of the Second Corps of the British Expeditionary Force elected to fight the German First Army and, although outnumbered three to one, delivered such a smashing blow to the German invaders that the whole of the BEF was able to continue the Retreat to Compiegne without being seriously threatened. Although the British suffered 1,200 of their men and officers killed, and were forced to leave their dead and many of their wounded on the battlefield, as well as thirty-six of their field guns, they inflicted losses on von Kluck's army of nearly 9,000. Yet the architect of this feat of arms, Second Corps commander Sir Horace Smith-Dorrien, was sacked soon afterward, while First Corps commander Sir Douglas Haig, who had performed far less impressively, took command of the whole BEF. Antony Bird describes the battle, its aftermath and he examines the men, the weapons and the tactics that made this feat of arms possible.
An inspiring look at Ephesians and the believer's asociation with Christ, the world, and Satan. Written by the saintly Chinese pastor, Watchman Nee.

Your Darkest Moment Isn’t Your Destiny In a frightening world, it’s tempting to question the promises of God. Yet one word rings out in Scripture as a call to God’s people: stand. From Moses at the Red Sea to Jesus with His disciples, stand is the call to believe God and hold fast to His promises. In Stand, Marian Jordan Ellis explores what it looks like to be faithful in a crumbling world. She addresses questions like these: How do Christian leaders share God’s good news in a culture that wants to silence their voices? How do parents hold on to hope when their children are more in love with the world than with Jesus? How do Christians battle the voices of shame and insecurity? Stand looks at the stories of real people—from Scripture and from today—who chose to stand firm and “win life.” Jesus promises that the evil of this present world is not our future reality. Stand offers inspiration and practical tools to stand in your faith, your convictions, and your trust in a God who never fails.
