As a corporate lawyer, there isn’t a whole that gets by Hannah, much less the warning signs of a failing relationship. She knows that her four-month-old relationship with Josh Homes is already over, but he breaks down in tears when she tries to break up with him. She’s too sympathetic and can’t stand to see him cry, so she gives him what he wants: a weeklong trip to Friday Harbor to attend his sister’s wedding, during which he hopes to show Hannah that they were meant for each other. Matthew Homes hasn’t seen his brother Josh in nearly a decade. Their relationship has been stormy since long before Matthew used his share of the family fortune to set up the biggest real-estate conglomerate in the United States, while Josh blew his share on small businesses that failed, leaving him an everyday accountant. But Matthew isn’t just a successful real-estate mogul—he’s also the ultimate dominant, with sinfully tempting looks and the sly prowess and charm of a panther. When Matthew sees Josh at the wedding, he’s immediately taken aback by the sexy and confident woman he calls his girlfriend. But will Matthew fall for Josh and Hannah’s act? Will Matthew be able to resist the temptation of Hannah and steer clear of deepening the feud with his brother? And what will happen when Matthew finds Hannah wandering aimlessly in the middle of the night and becomes overwhelmed with a desire to see her kneeling at his feet?
Three is most definitely not a crowd... Claire McKinley has just experienced every bride's nightmare: the groom is a no-show, and now she must face five hundred guests alone. Furious and humiliated, she seeks help from the most unlikely candidate-her almost-brother-in-law, who promptly whisks her away to his apartment in San Diego, where she can recover her pride in peace and quiet. Dylan Wade is no fan of Claire's, but he can't ignore the jilted bride in her time of need. Bringing her home seems like a good idea-until he remembers his new roommate. Dylan's relationship with Aidan Rhodes is...complicated. And with Claire thrown into the mix, life becomes even more...complicated. Claire is blindsided by her attraction not only to Dylan, but also to Aidan, a man she's just met. Soon they're caught up in an all-consuming sexual storm they can't fight even if they wanted to. But when their hearts get involved, Claire wonders if it can last, or if she's just setting herself up for more heartache. Warning: This book is very dirty. Ménage a trois and man-on-man dirty. Graphic language and explicit sex dirty. Basically? Dirty. You've been warned.

Menopause. Even the word sounds crazy. Of course, here at Sunnyvale Sanitarium, Home for the Mostly Menopausal, they don't want us to use the word 'crazy.' Hormonally challenged is what we are. Lexi Taylor grew up knowing people considered her “hot.” With a string of beauty pageants behind her, and a twenty-year contract as the face of an international cosmetics line, she's made a career out of it. But Lexi's hit the big five-o and suddenly she's hotter than ever. Only now, it's because of the night sweats and those killer hot flashes. Her husband's run off with a stripper, her daughter thinks she's nuts, and twice she's arrested for acts committed while in the throes of menopausal madness. Lexi's pleading the menopause version of the Twinkie defense on how her once perfect life turned to crap, “It wasn't me—it was the hormones.” After her second incarceration, a family intervention convinces Lexi she needs some professional help, and she checks herself into Sunnyvale Sanitarium Home for the Mostly Menopausal, for a ninety-day stay. Things continue to heat up when Lexi falls for her handsome psychotherapist, who despite his best intentions begins to share the attraction to his famous patient. With the help of an army of doctors, and one very therapeutic nun, Lexi manages to reclaim her sanity, her self-respect, her sex-drive, and learn the true purpose of her colorful life.
A swinging cultural history of the instrument that in many ways defined a century The twentieth century was barely under way when the grandson of a slave picked up a trumpet and transformed American culture. Before that moment, the trumpet had been a regimental staple in marching bands, a ceremonial accessory for royalty, and an occasional diva at the symphony. Because it could make more noise than just about anything, the trumpet had been much more declarative than musical for most of its history. Around 1900, however, Buddy Bolden made the trumpet declare in brand-new ways. He may even have invented jazz, or something very much like it. And as an African American, he found a vital new way to assert himself as a man. Hotter Than That is a cultural history of the trumpet from its origins in ancient Egypt to its role in royal courts and on battlefields, and ultimately to its stunning appropriation by great jazz artists such as Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, and Wynton Marsalis. The book also looks at how trumpets have been manufactured over the centuries and at the price that artists have paid for devoting their bodies and souls to this most demanding of instruments. In the course of tracing the trumpet's evolution both as an instrument and as the primary vehicle for jazz in America, Krin Gabbard also meditates on its importance for black male sexuality and its continuing reappropriation by white culture.
On October 15, 1967, bass player Steve Boone took the Ed Sullivan Show stage for the final time, with his band The Lovin' Spoonful. Since forming in a Greenwich Village hotel in early 1965, Boone and his bandmates had released an astounding nine Top 20 singles, the first seven of which hit the Billboard Top 10, including the iconic Boone co-writes "Summer in the City" and "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice." Little did Steve Boone know that the path of his life and career would soon take a turn for the bizarre, one that would eventually find him looking at the world through the bars of a jail cell. From captaining a seaworthy enterprise to smuggle marijuana into the U.S. from Colombia, to a period of addiction, to the successful reformation of the band he'd helped made famous, Hotter Than a Match Head tells the story of Boone's personal journey along with that of one of the most important and enduring groups of the 1960s.
The Complete Book of Ferns is filled with botanical information, indoor and outdoor growing and care information, details on propagation, display ideas, and even craft projects. This gorgeous book is authored by Mobee Weinstein, the Foreman of Gardeners at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx and a veteran guest on the Martha Stewart Living TV show and other media outlets. Houseplants in general are in ascendance, but no category is hotter than ferns. From the otherworldly Staghorns—mounted like antler trophies in homes throughout the world—to the classic Boston Ferns and newer varieties like Crispy Wave, ferns are definitely back in fashion. And to no one’s surprise. After all, ferns are among the very oldest plants on the planet, with a long and storied history. There are tens of thousands of known varieties of ferns. In the Victorian Era, ferns created an absolute craze for more than 50 years. They re-emerged as integral home décor accessories in the '50s and '60s, and who didn’t spend time in a "Fern Bar" back in the '80s? And they are back again. This comprehensive reference starts its examination of ferns 400 million years ago, when the first species of this group of spore-reproducing plants appeared on Earth, exploring their evolution and eventual incorporation into human culture, including the powers associated with them and their practical and ornamental uses. Then, after an exploration of fern botany—its parts, how it grows, its variability in size and form, habitats, propagation, etc.—you'll learn how to green your indoor and outdoor environments with ferns. Every aspect of fern care is covered: potting/planting, watering, fertilizing, pest and disease control, and more. With this knowledge absorbed, explore creative planting projects, like terrariums, vertical gardens (living walls), mixed tabletop gardens, and moss baskets. To make your survey of ferns complete, create pressed fern art, fabric wall hangings with chlorophyll-stained designs, cyanotypes, and hand-made fern-decorated paper. In the end, you will understand why this ancient plant class continues to be all the rage.
