4 DAYS A WEEK CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE "Too busy" is the number 1 reason people don't read their Bibles. "Too distracted" is number 2, even though 93 percent of Americans have 4 or more Bibles in their homes. Our media-driven culture keeps us from what could significantly change our lives-a relationship with God. Research from the Center for Bible Engagement shows that if you'll read the Bible only 4 days a week, you'll make better choices and positive changes in your life. But Christians who read the Bible less than 4 times a week lead lives that are statistically the same as unbelievers. Hope 4 Today is based on a 4-days-a-week schedule to help you revitalize your life. Endorsed by many influential leaders in Christianity today, Kathleen Cooke's short devotions will help you to seek God, grow in hope, share your faith, and stay connected to God in a distracted culture. Change your thinking from Bible-reading time to relationship-building time, and discover a vibrant, life-changing relationship with God. 4 days a week is all it takes.

Hope is not about uncertain possibility. There is a robust sense of hope: something has happened, and it has happened in a certain way. This volume addresses the question: What is the way of Christian hope? What does it mean to act with hope? And in particular, what does it mean to act, to live, with hope in our churches and in society today?
No mother ever expects to grieve the death of her child before or immediately after the child is born. Butthe National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences reports that as many as 31 percent of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. When the unthinkable happens, where do women turn for help? Written from the perspective of one grieving mommy to another, Hope for Today, Promises for Tomorrow is a ten-week study that will encourage and challenge women to delve into a deeper understanding of God’s Word. As women engage in biblical teaching, they will learn to embrace God’s promises of love, goodness, purpose, comfort, peace, refinement, restoration, hope, and eternity. “Hope for Today” verses peppered throughout each chapter, journaling cues, prayers, and the stories of other women who have experienced loss will help readers move from grieving in silent solitude to living life in the richness of God’s love. While other books suggest a one-size-fits-all method for grief management or focus on understanding specific causes of child loss, Hope for Today, Promises for Tomorrow offers comfort for the reader, whatever her situation, by helping her focus on the light of the ultimate Promise, the hope of a Savior, Jesus Christ.

For the author, Ann Rita Frazier, living with the loss of her husband began a journey down a grieving path she would never travel by choice. As she processed her loss, she found hidden treasures in God’s Word to direct her down the path to healing. This ten-week Bible study of her journey will lead you through grieving losses in your own life. The Restoring Hope Bible study opens with a loss but ends with hope for the future. In this journey, you will begin with the initial place of shock, proceed through the “valley of the shadow of death,” and arrive in the heights of healing and restoration. This study has scriptures, testimony, prayers, questions for reflection, and life application with room for responses within each chapter. This approach is an interactive way of learning and healing through meditation on God’s Word by facing pointed questions to journal and pray through. The encouragement you will receive from this study is knowing that God has healing and restoration in your future. This ten-week course directs the reader to the Hope Giver, Jesus, while waiting for miracles of healing and restoration. As you accept the new way forward in your life, God will position you to use your testimony as an overcomer to reach out to others still struggling with losses in their lives.

Written in a theopoetic key, this book challenges Christian reliance on the motif of promise, especially where promise is regarded as a prerequisite for the experience of hope. It pursues instead an unpromising hope available to the agnostic or belief-fluid members and leaders of faith communities. The book rejects any theological judgement about doubt and hopelessness being sinful. It also rejects any hope which is grounded in a sense of Christian supremacy. Chapter 1 focuses on Ernst Bloch’s antifascist concept of utopian surplus, putting Bloch in conversation with queer theorist José Esteban Muñoz and womanist theologian M. Shawn Copeland. Chapter 2 explores the saudadic and theopoetic hope of Rubem Alves. Chapter 3 turns to the womanist theologies of Delores Williams, Emilie Townes, and A. Elaine Brown Crawford. Finally, chapter 4 engages the post-colonial eschatology of Vítor Westhelle, framing hope as nearby in space, rather than nearby in time. Each chapter offers an unpromising hope that may be tapped into by those who wish to affirm belief-fluidity in their own communities, and by those who wish to speak of hope honestly, whether or not, at any given moment, they believe in God or in the promises of a god.
