Elizabeth Flinders (b. 1831) was the daughter of Samuel Ward Flinders (1782-1834) who accompanied his older brother Matthew Flinders (1774-1814) on the circumnavigation of Australia in HMS Investigator in 1802.
This account of European settlement in the modern state of Victoria, Australia, spans developments from the first convict camp established in 1803 on the Bass Strait to the contemporary separation of the district from New South Wales.
