Part of a new series called Hawaiian Legends for Little Ones, Hina introduces kids ages 0-4 to one of Hawaii's best-known dieties, the goddess of the moon. In simple, poetic language, this origin story gives small kids a taste of Hawaii's rich history of storytelling. Three other titles in the series are: Naupaka, Pele Finds a Home, and Maui Hooks the Islands--all legends that will give kids a wider view of Hawaiian culture, history, and its natural world.
This book is about a young Polynesian girl who got marooned on a deserted island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and got rescued by a Spanish boy from Mexico, and their adventures. This fictitious story happened in the 1825--1855 years in the good old history, long before my time. I wrote a few chapters in my first book (Caprice Letan) about this little girl, now I continue that story to the very end. I have spent one night sleeping on the open plateau of Eiao island, when a small lamb got killed by a bunch of savage wild boars. I woke up for a child’s cry of terror, from a deep sleep. I had dreamt of a big bonfire and savage men dancing around it, with big wooden clubs . According to legends the island is hunted, because its occupants had been eaten by cannibals. However, there was one survivor-HINA . The little mother if god. This is a happy mixture of love, piracy, treasure, shipwrecking and survival at sea with a “happy ending.” I hope You will enjoy it, as much as enjoyed to write it.
Paint and collage creates rich, colorful, three-dimentional shapes and images in this depiction of the goddess Hina's movement from sea to land to sky.

When Keitaro Urashima fails his entrance exams to get into Tokyo University for the second time, he's officially an unemployed and uneducated slacker. What he doesn't know is that the lodge is actually a girl's dorm and he's the only guy around! Most guys would kill to live with five sexy ladies, but if Keitaro's not careful, this job will kill him.
The author has strived-through Rang e Hina to put into words the things we experience as the staggering tsunami of time washes over us, dousing us in sensation until we are drenched to the bone in life's profound complexities, submerging us in wisdom and ambition until our minds are left swimming in the depths of what is and what could have been. She wishes this book to be a product of the empathy for the pain the people around her feel, the empathy that she keeps close to her heart when she writes. Poetry, in the perspective of the author, is a beautiful way to communicate one's thoughts to people’s hearts, and to thwart it as just being a play on words with the intention of receiving accolades of applause is utterly wrong. The author wishes with all her heart that her words dutifully portrayed her thoughts and feelings and hoped that her core message of love and empathy in every form reaches the hearts of every reader.
