Translated copy of correspondence, originally in German, from H.G. Reichenbach to John Torrey, dated March 1,1852, from Leipzig. A cordial note and letter of recommendation for an unnamed associate, probably Carl Bogenhard. A pencilled note signed "J.H.B." asserts that the translator is Carl Bogenhard. See Bogenhard's letter dated August 6, 1852 in the John Torrey Papers; the handwriting appears to match, and from this letter it would seem the recommendee is Bogenhard himself.
Correspondence from Randolph B. Marcy to John Torrey, dated October 6, 1852, discussing the botanical specimens gathered on his recent Red River expedition, and proposing that Torrey is the botanist to analyze them.
Correspondence from J.D. Graham to John Torrey, dated 1852, discussing shipments of plants sent to Torrey from Texas, which apparently have not arrived.
