For far too long the myth of the vampire has haunted our imagination and inspired our works of art yet immortal as vampires are, they remain simply that; a myth. But what if there was scientific data that could explain the literal existence or even the possibility to legitimize the vampire as fact? Well....there is! This volume of the Descendants of Cain Trilogy takes a deeper look at the characters introduced in Volume One, delving into their past history and answering the questions that remained unanswered before. New characters are introduced, testing the moral core of the original characters and the limits of betrayal and deceit along with the fragile bonds of ancient friendships. The past was told and now the present begins and the myth of the vampire comes alive in our own time. Will they survive long enough as a species to make it into the future? Perhaps, but will we be there to witness their glory and be seduced by their power? Only time will tell!
Descendants of Cain is the first volume in a Trilogy of the Undead series, where the story of the first vampire in history is told in autobiographical form, explaining the origin of the vampire race using historical information and events as a backdrop to his story. Here he recounts his beginnings, his love for a mortal woman and the loss of that love, followed by his hatred of his only son, transforming an otherwise inhuman creature into one of us. This is a story of dramatic love and heart-wrenching loss, betrayal, and deceit where things aren't always what they appear to be.
The Cains who are the subject of this volume were of Dutch or German origin and were probably in America before 1730. First generation descendants lived in Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. Succeeding generations have spread into Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, and elsewhere.
