In this visual representation of a classic, Sherrill Knezel brings Parker J. Palmer's Let Your Life Speak to life. More than seventy heartfelt images accompany excerpts from Palmer, inviting reading to explore and embrace both their own limits and their own potential as they listen to their inner voice and courageously follow its lead.
If you want to change your life, then change the way you talk. We’ve all heard the saying “As a man thinketh, so he is.” Well, “as a man speaketh, so he lives.” The ancients knew this. They knew that words are energy, That sound waves influence both receiver and transmitter. Did you know that using the words “try,” “hope,” and “want” Creates barriers to your success and happiness? Heart-Speak is about connective communication. When you talk using this new language, You will reshape your world And experience greater joy and success.
Heart Speak presents a collection of poetry that comes from deep within author Dennis McCormacks heart, seeking to address some of the ultimate questions in our lives: Is life eternal, and how does a person make up their mind about the answer to this question? Should the human person be the standard of values always? Can oceans heal us? Can Angels heal us? Can God and Man heal us? McCormack explores these questions and others in verse, relying on tradition handed down to him through both childhood and university study. The heart and the mind play a special role in poetry, in our lives, our marriages, friendships, civilizations, and filial relationships. The poet composes his song and poem as his heart and mind dialogue together finally finding unison when the task is done. Poetry and song come from the heart because they are inspired by it as a first step in the poems coming to be and be seen. The Rain Falls on Heaven and Earth Rain fell on roads not taken, Flowers blooming, blushing at friends, Celebrating love-springs birth, On wise folk praising him With precious gifts for children, Angels at their gates. The day we met, tears fell, Blessing all of us, and your heart Passing cups of hope To Gods friends at sea, As the old orange sun turned yellow To the sounds of Shenandoah.
Expressed through poetry, essays, and short stories, Voices from a Black Heart Speak examines deep-seated beliefs, perspectives, and emotional feelings derived from the cultural development of black people in the United States. We live in a world where television tells us what to want, how we want to live, and what we want to do. We live in a world where fear of the unknown is to be feared and that's considered normal. It may be considered normal and acceptable, but it's totally irrational as our entire lives and world is based on the unknown. We slide through life on a hope and wish that our lives work out as we planned them. If we look at the major earthquake in the Indian Ocean on December 26, 2004 that created a Tsunami or Great Wave that killed over 100,000 people and destroyed towns, cities and property in the billions in Asia, we can realize the truth of the fact is that we live our lives in the unknown from moment to moment. The one thing that sustains us is our faith as we journey through life.
I have spent most of my life moving around from one place to the next because of my father's work. As a result, I have had the opportunity to explore new places and meet people from various backgrounds--in short, traveling has become a part of me. From the age of fourteen, I had decided hotel management would be the career path I would be best suited for. Turns out I was right; the hospitality industry is something I truly fell in love with. Due to certain complications, however, currently the service industry and I have parted ways, but I am sure I soon shall find my way back. Writing is a medium I use to pen down my emotions. It has always been a hobby and makes it easier for me to empty out my mind and heart. So this is me exploring my creative side. I hope my verses help you as they have helped me through various modes of my life.
Glimpses of her came to him, On the wisps of a dream one night, He could see so many things about her, But her face was hidden from sight. Her hair was long and flowing, And in the dream it covered her face, But her energy he could never forget, Because it was filled with light and grace. And the feelings of peace and acceptance, Which he felt so strongly right there, Swirled around him like soothing waves, As did the tendrils of her hair. He woke to the ribbons of moonlight, With a smile upon his lips, Because before she left him in his dream, She had given him an enchanting kiss. Janine Palmer (Silver Moon)
