Charlotte Mason looked at the world and saw that it was governed by universal laws, such as the law of gravity. Then she wondered. What if there were similar laws that governed the way people learn? If we knew what those laws were, we'd be able to pursue education along the most promising lines . She devoted her life to finding the key principles of education and then developing methods to make the most of them. The result is a comprehensive picture of living and learning that breathes life into education at every level--from babyhood to the adult years. It's not a rote system, but a flexible set of ideas that keep education in focus. These principles are for everyone concerned with teaching and learning. They are no more difficult to implement than the principle of gravity which allows you to walk, run, and even--when you know what you are doing--to soar.
A well-used general text, this book covers material from figured bass to contemporary practices and ideas in a two-year course. There is a particularly strong chapter on ear training. Organizing progress of study is expedited by having both workbook and text under the same cover.

I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role. Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it's something so easily definable. A concept to fight against. Evil doesn’t exist. Neither does ‘good.’ Vampires do, though. I just happen to be one. I’ve cruised through the centuries managing to avoid all the wars, supernatural and human, but still going to all the best parties. I would say I avoided bloodshed, but it’s kind of part of the whole ‘vampire’ thing. I’ve lived on the fringes of a society that considered cruelty and sadism favorable character traits for almost five hundred years. Now I'm in the middle of a war that might just put my nonbeating heart in a lot of danger. Battles, I can handle. The impossible attraction between me and the vampire slayer, not to mention the penetrating gaze of the king of our race, on the other hand? I might not get out undead.

There is no safe place in the world anymore, especially for women. For several decades, the birth rate of females has been declining. Militants, the government, and private citizens alike will do anything to find young women and force them into unthinkable arrangements. Against the darkness of this world stand The Wanderers—a secret society born to provide sanctuary for anyone who believes in free will and democratic notions. Their numbers are growing and their citizens live in safe, hidden compounds. Harmony’s path in life has always been predetermined. She was lucky to have been permitted to stay with her mother until she was twelve. Many girls were not so fortunate. But that was eight years ago. She’ll be twenty soon, and she’s been a ward of the state, living in a girls’ home, for almost half her life. The clock is ticking. Females have no rights in the new world. She will be wed against her will to a man she did not choose and has not met on her twentieth birthday. Unbeknownst to Harmony, a team of Wanderers has a plan to rescue her. It’s risky. It might fail. All four men are endangering their lives for a woman they’ve never met. But in this post-apocalyptic society, danger lurks around every corner and risks are taken for the better of humanity every day. Mykel, Eldin, Blane, and York have very few details to go on, but they intend to rescue Harmony if it’s the last thing they do. What they don’t expect is to fall head over heals for the woman. Their mission is to bring her to The Wanderers bunker and reunite her with her mother. But that plan might take a detour if their affection for Harmony is reciprocated.
