This book is based on Professor Pierre Casse’s ten years of teaching, consulting, and writing case studies at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO. Many of the key issues explored have been the subject of much discussion and debate during training programs and special events such as the SKOLKOVO Master Classes on Leadership. They have also been published electronically under the title SKOLKOVO BE in Trend. The BE in Trend series was published as a monthly teaser and attracted quite a few followers who found Professor Casse’s direct approach to exposing the very real challenges, which leaders in the field face day to day, stimulating. Many of the issues raised are ones that leaders are reluctant to talk openly about. This is not a book full of advice and guidelines but is rather an exploration of some of the most provocative issues in a way that is intended to encourage leaders to reflect and determine how these issues might apply to them, their teams, and organisations. It is indeed a very leader-friendly composition aimed directly at the busy leader.
Leadership for a New World, compiled by Professor Pierre Casse is a compendium of different perspectives by a group of nine renowned thought leaders. The aim of the book is to provide readers with the opportunity to reflect on the current evolution of leadership as we rise to meet the challenges, we face in our world today. The world in which we find ourselves in the second decade of the new millennium appears beset by a widening range of intractable challenges which the authors explore, drawing on their research and first-hand experiences of leadership-in-action in an extraordinarily complex world. The intention is to encourage readers to reflect on what leadership is becoming as we continue to face such enormous existential challenges which, by their very nature, necessitate a continual questioning of established assumptions and understanding of what leadership is in an ever-changing global environment. Through a series of thought-provoking chapters and related self-assessment exercises, the reader is encouraged to challenge their own experiences and frames of reference and in so doing, clarify the kind of leadership that is essential for our continued survival for a new world in the making.
As this is the fourth book in the series Cast Your Bread, the author has once again, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, brought significant detail to the devotions and Bible studies shared in this edition. Again, it is easy to read the material with a depth of insight for those who choose to mine the depths of Gods Word. While the devotional talks take you on some wide and varied subjects, all relevant Bible references have been given to make these articles easy to follow and to be able to readily find and follow through the messages given and shared. As you delve more into the Word of God, seeking understanding, the astute student will be rewarded with much insight about truth, and as we know, it is only the truth that sets us free. The Bible studies are exactly that, with in-depth teaching that will probably require more than one sitting to fully comprehend the extensive work contained within these pages. Where possible, the author has blended several accounts of the gospels so the full and true picture can be gained. The last section has been gleaned from the authors experience with the preparation of interesting Bible talks and messages to congregations who come under the ministry of the person who shares the truth of the Bible. As you read and study all the pages contained within these covers, may you be enriched beyond measure as you uncover the spiritual gems hidden in the mine of Gods Holy Word.

The world of business is in the throes of a new revolution. It is, paradoxically, both the best and worst of times. Opportunity abounds, but the economic, societal, and technological foundations of the Machine Age are crumbling. Confounded by chaos and heavily pressured for results, most Western managers have no better ideas for how to compete than to endlessly copy each other, cut costs, and buy up rivals. Downsizing is epidemic and decline common.Clearly, the world is going though a major transition. When this transformation is completed, it will look very different. This upheaval will change everything, but the focus and maximum stress point is economic. In the future world power and national prosperity will increasingly depend on the ability to compete in high value added product-market areas. The winners will develop new societal models for business, economics, government, and education. This current and authoritative book is the joint product of an academician and a business practitioner, both of whom share a deep concern about the inadequacy of current models and practices. It examines the new environment and explores the underlying drivers — the “Engines of Prosperity” — that set the new rules of competitive rivalry. It provides timely advice for managers on how to operate in a world characterized by Information Age technology, rapid change, deepening global linkages, increasing returns to scale, and the continuous unbundling of value chains.
