This document provides guidelines intended to help local governments, land use managers, & approving officers develop & implement land use management plans and make subdivision approval decisions for flood hazard areas in British Columbia. The first part covers aspects of administration of flood hazard land use management, including official community plans, by-laws & development permits, subdivision approvals, covenants, and other administrative measures. Part 2 outlines the importance & application of floodplain mapping information. The final three sections provide provincial requirements for different types of flooding hazards & different land uses commonly found in the province, and cover such matters as floodplain setbacks, construction levels, and implementation measures. Includes glossary and copies of standard forms.
