Excerpt from Guide to Vital Statistics Records of Church Archives in Louisiana, Vol. 1: Protestant and Jewish Churches The dates covered, number of volumes, and names and addresses of custodians have been checked as carefully as possible to insure the greatest accuracy in the data. However, the close attention accorded the larger and more accessible churches could not be given practicably to the smaller and more outlying religious groups. A lack of personnel in some localities has greatly handicapped the preparation of this volume, and for this reason no listing could be made in several parishes. The excluded parishes are as follows: Assumption, Cameron, Lafourche, Plaquemines, St. Martin, St. Nary, Tensas, Vermilion, and West Baton Rouge. The present volume is issued in the nature of a preliminary publication because it was not considered justifiable to delay the r lease of the available information while attempting to secure further coverage. It is regrettable that so Vital a program could not be fully completed, and it is hoped that the two volumes of this series may, by their Simple utility, engender a sufficiently active interest on the part of some agency to extend the inventory to a successful culmination.
