In response to your request to conduct a comprehensive overview of the status of general aviation, especially since the passage the General Aviation Revitalization Act (GARA), we addressed three research questions. What did key indicators in general aviation activity show in the years leading up to GARA and what have they shown since then? What funding is available for general aviation airports and is it sufficient to accommodate planned development? What are the trends in general aviation accident rates and the causes of accidents, and how have the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) and the industry attempted to improve safety?
Study of six general aviation airports (Forest City, Maquoketa, Mount Pleasant, Orange City, Sac City and Sheldon) and one municipal airport (Ames). The role a general aviation airport plays in the overall economic development and prosperity of a progressive community.
The purpose of this survey is to determine what economic benefits to representative communities have accrued from the development of airports built primarily for use by general aviation with financial assistance under the Federal-aid Airport Program. In this respect, the survey sought tangible evidence of significant community benefit which could be causally related to each airport's development. (Author).
Study of government policy on the financing of airports and services in the USA used by commercial air transport companies and civil aircraft - proposes a method of charging for such services that would achieve greater productivity and a more equitable distribution of costs between general aviation, commercial airlines and the general taxpayer.
