Excerpt from A Selection From Goldwin Smith's Correspondence: Comprising Letters Chiefly to and From His Engish Friends, Written Between the Years 1846 and 1910 I could wish that it had fallen to the lot of some one else to collect, select, and edit Goldwin Smith's letters and the letters written to him for I was born more than a generation after he was, and I knew him intimately only during the last twenty years of his life. However, as his legally appointed literary executor, I have considered it to be my duty to publish some of his letters and some of the letters written to him. Goldwin Smith, although he lived to the end of the first decade of the twentieth century, belongs to the middle and latter part Of the nineteenth. To be precise, he was born on August 13, 1823, and died on June 7, 1910. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
