In 2016, on observing the 55th anniversary of their whirlwind courtship and marriage in 1961, Bill & Elin Walker reflected on how the first half of the 1960s, impacted and molded their world view, as they became witnesses to history in the making in what turned into a long ride with the military. This book tries to capture some essence of those times through recollections, letters, and stories from 1961 through 1965.

What really goes on behind the scenes in the mysterious world of community theatre? Dreamcast is a look at the most underpaid volunteers on the planet, those who serve the muse of live theatre in the small towns and suburbs of America. A local amateur production of "The Sound of Music" unleashes vengeful nuns, a Korean beer connoisseur, a randy director, a flamboyant choreographer, an obsessive stalker, a brat who knows all the songs from "Wicked" and a pot-smoker who lives in a public bathroom. Love/life, comedy/drama, mayhem, backstage drama and onstage triumph are all here for the price of admission to Dreamcast. This is my first novel and it is on a subject very dear to my heart. I have been doing community theatre since the age of 9. Why do I keep doing it? I don't get paid, in fact it costs me money. The glory is fleeting and the hours are awful. I wrote this book in part to answer that question.
The Journal of my life, looking through a glass, as a profoundly deaf lady aged now at Sixty seven years of age.
Life is simple? Follow a few maxima, and it is easy. No. In growing up, everyone must deal with a series of opposing, dual messages. For example, one hears, “If you hesitate, you lose.” Good. Then, one also learns, “Look before you leap.” Both are correct. What to do? And this is only one of life’s six contradictions. This book identifies the six dual dueling ideas. The first is, Carpe Diem vs. Reflection and Contemplation. Or its variation, the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. The second is ambivalence, which amazingly means simultaneously loving and hating something or someone. The third involves following your heart versus the head and we all root for the Hollywood ending. The fourth looks at whether it is better to work alone or as part of a group. The fifth deals with whether you should follow the rules or challenge them. The sixth shows the advantages of having big picture views in your life while also appreciating your daily realities. The final chapter, Transcendence, offers a unique answer and alternative to all the six contradictions. As a grandfather, a father, a psychiatrist, a son, a brother, a wishing-to-be-better golfer, a jogger, a sailor, a hiker, an amateur geologist, want-to-be comedian, local newspaper reporter, and a veteran of School of Hard Knocks, the author has wrestled with all six of them and discovered moments of transcendence. In this book, he shares his observations and philosophy about all of them with his grandchildren and you. Based on this book, you can make better decisions. The book itself is engaging, insightful, witty, and entertaining. It is full of examples from history, literature, and the author’s experiences. Welcome and enjoy!
Charley Pickney wanted to become a screenwriter, but right out of college computer science provided a more reliable income where he could eat regularly and work standard business hours. So he chose the easier road to success. Then one day he got a chance to "shoot the moon" and screenwrite a cowboy-western saga for a Dallas cowboy boot manufacturer, and he hitched his wagon to that star. He was glad that he did.
Do you want to embrace a process of transformation throughout which your requests to the Holy Trinity will be manifested? I invite you to explore this journey of Optimistic Prayer, where the energy of God's love is radiating with pure anticipation and joy to fulfi ll our dreams, our desires. It seeks to show you that it is mandatory to be in alignment with God, through His Son, The Christ, in communication with The Holy Spirit. Making petitions by rote is not good enough. The Holy Trinity requires us to be of forgiveness, love, purity of thinking and intentions, reverence, faith, gratitude, praise and thanksgiving. The stages may be diffi cult to embrace but I believe that if you are open and willing to adopt the suggestions, whatever you ask for, you will receive, in accordance with God's eternal love for you and His will for your lives.
Although most of us pray to God, or some form of higher spiritual consciousness, doesnt it seem odd that we perceive this presence as separate from us? In this turbulent time of change and transformation, so many are asking, why does life have to be so challenging; why disease, why famine, why poverty, why war, why am I alone? Our plight on this Earth begs the question, where is this divine and loving presence we innately call to? All of this was weighing heavily on my mind as I helplessly witnessed a beautiful young soul be taken by leukemia. It was while questioning, Where is God? that from the silence of seemingly unanswered prayers I was asked, Are you ready now? I was totally perplexed. What did it mean? And who was calling to me? Was it God? Was it an angel? Or was it perhaps just my imagination? For weeks I pondered both the question and its origin, and although I was indeed fearful of embracing that which was so unknown, something from within said, This is your calling. Have courage and move forward in faith. As the weeks passed, I sat idle, uncertain as to the course to choose, but then alas the thought of moving forward into that unknown didnt seem any scarier than sitting still. Cautiously I answered. Yes, I am ready, I said, Im ready to embrace this calling I feel from within me, but Ill only do this in the vein of love and peace, with honor and dignity, and in the spirit of the Christ consciousness. It was there that my journey began, one that swiftly moved me into the heart of what I call a spiritual awakening. Long forgotten gifts of clairvoyance began emerging into the forefront of my awareness. I was having visions of past lives and found myself acutely aware of those in spirit, often times hearing their directives. Eventually I began recording the guidance I perceived them to be conveying in a journal. As I did, to my amazement it became abundantly clear that not only was I connecting with loved ones who had passed, but with a host of spirit guides, angels and ascended masters. Several years of walking the path had passed when one evening as I read a message for a friend, synchronicity opened a door. It sounds like the message was written just for me, she said. Over the course of the next several months there were nearly a dozen people for whom I read that made the same exact comment. Thats when I knew that the messages were meant to be shared. By the grace of God, that which is conveyed in this book has been provided only by those who resonate with the vibration of Love and Light. They come from many spheres of spiritual consciousness, including ascended masters, angels, and Archangels. I have chosen to refer to them collectively as Spirit. When one reads from their messages, it becomes obvious that they are not contrary to any religion, nor are they postulating a religion. They are merely supplemental revelations spoken through divine grace in order that we might understand a little bit more about divine design, about karma and the power each of us holds in our words, deeds and actions. They offer enlightening information about why life is, and how we can and will affect our own future collectively and individually as evolving spirits. The best way to allow the messages to serve you is to hold the book in your hands and simply ask in the name of Love and Light, that guidance be revealed that will serve your highest good. Relax and breathe in the loving presence of divine grace, letting go any other thoughts. When you are ready, randomly open the book. You will undoubtedly be drawn to a message that will speak directly to your situation. Spirit says, Take from these messages that which truly speaks to your heart, and know that what we share with you comes in and of the divine Light. Through the choices we make in our words, deeds and actions, we create our own tempering. It is drawn unto us and thus becomes the living proof of who we are and that which we have learned regarding love and compassion, respect and honor, to name a few. And in so making these choices, we are creating the karma that will shape the future lessons of not only this life, but the ones to come. You will reap that which you sow, the great master Jesus said. By collective choice, the future is ours to sow. We can engage the energy of Love and Light, or we can wallow in the energy of fear and negativity. The question is, which will we choose? In Love and Light, Scott Elliott - Kuenzel (Kenzel)
Sorceress of psychological suspense, Ninie Hammon, brings you the second book in The Knowing Saga, a sprawling tale of spiritual warfare that spans a quarter of a century. If you crave sleep-with-the-lights-on suspense coupled with characters so real they'll feel like family, then you'll love The Deceiving. The monster demon is BACK! ...and he’s had twenty-six years to plot his revenge. Defeated in 1985 by three twelve-year-olds, the efreet returns to kill them. In The Knowing, he sent five demon-possessed men to murder Jack Carpenter, Becca Hawkins, and Daniel Burke—the now-adult twelve-year-olds whose memories of that childhood summer when they battled a monster have been erased. The three escape and survive—only to discover that the man possessed by the efreet has been nominated to fill a vacancy on the United States Supreme Court. Now the efreet has changed his tactics. He’s no longer trying to kill them. Instead, he totally devastates their lives. And he has other plans, too, unspeakable plans, uglier than any of them could possibly imagine. Award-winning journalist and author Ninie Hammon has created a terrifyingly real world where the people fighting to defeat invisible monsters from the bowels of hell are folks you might bump carts with in the grocery store. People so ordinary, in fact, that when the unexplainable rips apart their lives, when demons destroy their reputations and attack their children, you begin to wonder if the same thing could happen to you, too. ★★★★★ "Once again, Ninie proves she has what it takes to stand toe to toe with the "big boys" and tell a spell binding story of good versus evil. Think there's no such thing as ultimate evil..think again." -- Pembina ★★★★★ "Ninie, you broke the mold. This 2nd book in your trilogy outdid your first and I loved The Knowing. The Deceiving is like reading 2 stories in one. I started reading it and I was right back into the story from the start." -- D.A. Stephens ★★★★★ "I thought (The Knowing), book 1 in the series was a heart pounding read. I loved it, but let me be clear. Book 2, (The Deceiving) is so intense that I couldn't relax while I was reading." -- Judith Blevins ★★★★★ "The most disappointing thing about Ninie's most recent book, The Deceiving, is that it came to an end!" -- CindyS ★★★★★ "The thing I always loved about Stephen King books was that he'd take a simple situation and all of a sudden you were somewhere in the middle of a mess that made you wonder how you got there. Ninie Hammon's books are like that." -- Renee Alice If you enjoy a fast-paced, chills-filled story so gripping you’ll decide the dirty dishes aren't going anywhere and the car will survive one more day without an oil change, The Deceiving is the book for you.
