The story starts with the memories of a retired person called Avinash, who spends his days in the USA appreciating her natural beauty and pollution free atmosphere. He stays at New Jersey but visits New York, Atlantic City, Niagara Falls and Hollywood. He admires the Americans for their honesty, hard work and discipline. He compares the luxurious style of living of the entire population to India’s poverty-ridden state. He discusses this issue with his senior citizen friends and convinces them that this is due to corruption and not only illiteracy, by explaining the level of corruption amongst bureaucrats, in the judiciary and politics from the time of his cursed birth. With his American friends, he writes a book on corruption and ways to eradicate it and explains it to the Indian chief. He foresees a joint attack by Pak and China jointly and gives valuable suggestions to end the war. He also foresees the division of Seemanadra into Seema and Andra,and Karnataka into three regions. He meets the concerned leaders with his team and helps regain peace. He receives International awards for peace, after being treated as useless by his parents and bosses. Truth, peace, humanity and nature win.

The translator's preface explains Lombardo's choices as he faced the always-challenging task of rendering Dante's poetry into English. Among the most interesting choices are the occasional use of rhyme--especially in key passages and at the end of each canto, where interlocking rhymes that mimic Dante's terza rima are consistently employed--and an emphasis on creating a version that works well as an oral presentation, following the long tradition of private, public, and theatrical readings of the poem. In Locating August Strindberg's Prose, Anna Westerståhl Stenport argues that spatial setting is a key - though often neglected - tool for exploring the fundamentals of European literary modernism. Stenport examines the importance of location by exploring the prose of Swedish exile August Strindberg (1849-1912), challenging previous studies of the author that have focused on identity and subject formation. Strindberg wrote in both Swedish and French, situating his stories in various places across Europe - from Berlin to the French countryside, the Austrian Alps, and Stockholm - to purposely destabilize concepts of national belonging, language, and literary history. Close readings of Strindberg's prose find that his boundary-challenging narratives redefine and rewrite the meaning of a marginal literary identity. By contextualizing Strindberg against other early modernists, including Kafka, Conrad, Rilke, and Breton, Stenport emphasizes the burgeoning transnationality of literature at the turn of the last century.

Deleuze, Altered States and Film offers a typology of altered states, defining dream, hallucination, memory, trance and ecstasy in their cinematic expression. The book presents altered states films as significant neurological, psychological and philosophical experiences. Chapters engage with films that simultaneously present and induce altered consciousness. They consider dream states and the popularisation of alterity in drugs films. The altered bodies of erotic arousal and trance states are explored, using haptics and synaesthesia. Cinematic distortions of space and time as well as new digital and fractal directions are opened up. Anna Powell's distinctive re-mapping of the film experience as altered state uses a Deleuzian approach to explore how cinema alters us by 'affective contamination'. Arguing that specific cinematic techniques derange the senses and the mind, she makes an assemblage of philosophy and art, counter-cultural writers and filmmakers to provide insights into the cinematic event as intoxication.
