The first in a young middle grade animal series in which an anxious Boston Terrier and an exuberant potbellied pig team up to solve crimes in their barnyard—from debut author PJ Gardner, with illustrations by David Mottram. Perfect for fans of the Mercy Watson series, The Trouble with Chickens, and A Boy Called Bat. Horace Homer Higgins III despises dirt. And the outdoors. And ducks. But when his person, Ellie, moves to a farm called the Homestead, the anxious Boston Terrier is forced to adapt. As if that isn’t enough to strain his nerves, Ellie adopts a perpetually cheerful potbellied pig named Bunwinkle to be his baby sister. Bunwinkle is delighted to be on the farm despite the stuffiness of her new canine brother. She’s sure she’ll crack his shell eventually—no one can resist her cuteness for long—especially once they bond over watching a TV pet-tective show. When the duo discovers that some neighborhood animals have been disappearing, they decide to use their new detective skills to team up to solve this barnyard mystery. Is it a mountain lion? Or their suspiciously shot-loving veterinarians? Only one thing seems certain: if they don’t figure it out soon, one of them might be next.

Rascal is only a baby when young Sterling brings him home. He and the mischievous raccoon are best friends for a perfect year of adventure—until the spring day when everything suddenly changes. A Newbery Honor Book
Rascal grew from an unmarked newborn baby to a twenty-five-pound raccoon before he was turned outdoor. He didn't know he was a raccoon and tried to do what people do. The book contains suspense and many laughs.
This book describes my experiences with animals to the present time. Some of these were quite out of the ordinary, both as to the animals involved and the situations that occurred. Looking back, it seems almost impossible and definitely inadvisable that some of these happenings did in fact take place, yet they did. I have always felt a strong love for all wildlife. Certainly U know where U stand with them rather than have to guess as with many humans.
Rascal Rabbit is a bright, lime green character with an environmental & social conscience. He seems to always be busy playing tricks on others and stirring up trouble. But in the end, it's all because he has a big heart and wants to help the hungry. He is joined by CAT and Racky Raccoon on a funny, but sometimes serious adventure of understanding where everyone's food comes from and how helping each other out makes us all feel good about life. Rascal Rabbit's escapades teach empathy, touch on environmental issues, such as organic food, and provide children of all ages with an endearing character who wants to help others and save the planet.
Rescued! Tales of a Wildlife Biologist and His Sons By: Donald W. Linzey RESCUED! tells the story of how one man shared his love of animals and passion for wildlife research with his two sons, and later inspired them in choosing their career paths. In this memoir, Linzey recounts how his boyhood interest in animals developed into a passionate and successful career as a wildlife biologist, a job which for him often included bringing his work home in the form of orphaned gopher tortoises, hog-nosed snakes, flying squirrels, raccoons, and more. For his two sons, growing up in a household filled with these many creatures and frequently joining their father on research trips gave them a unique childhood filled with adventure, humor, and a deep love and respect for the beauty of nature.
