Based on Brother Lawrence's The Practice of the Presence of God, a spiritual classic for three hundred years, Finding God in the Fast Lane is a practical guide for Christians who long to find God in the relentless busyness of modern life. This book is for all seasons and all situations. Each of the six chapters contains questions, practical guidelines, and suggestions on how to pray at work or on the road, how to celebrate both stillness and busyness, and how to achieve inner silence, even in the midst of chaos.
My first experience with "death" happened on the night of July 2, 1984. Since then, books, movies, and television documentaries have popularized the term "near-death experience" to describe an event that has been experienced by millions of people who have been at death's door. But back in 1984 I was alone with my experience. I couldn't share it with anyone. From the book: "Coming back from death is a powerful and life-changing experience. Before I came back from death, I was told that I was coming back with a mission in life. My mission was not clearly defined for me at first, but I now find that each and every day it is being defined for me more clearly. The experience has set me upon a path of self-discovery and spiritual enlightenment that continues to provide me with glimpses into the afterlife--glimpses that I would now like to share with you. Prior to finding myself at death's door, I was not by nature inclined to share anything with anybody, but now I believe it is important that I share my experiences with you.

In this era of "life makeovers," personal coaches, and success-oriented mission statements, many people are working hard to get it together. They're looking for a good life, which at its core includes wanting their time to count for something, to be meaningful and mindful. But as Christine and Tom Sine point out, "more and more people are missing the best and settling for less." Living on Purpose presents a true life-changing strategy--one rooted in God's greater purposes for our lives, not merely our own desires for success. The book has a laser-focus on God's mission and vocation for each of his children, and it shows how staying on his course will lead to the very richest and most fulfilling life. Questions for reflection and discussion make Living on Purpose ideal for group use. The Sines help readers make the connection between their everyday pursuits and goals and God's will for their lives. They show how to draft a personal or family mission statement to reinvent "timestyle" and lifestyle, using relevant examples from the Bible and other writings. Packed with inspiring stories and practical how-to, Living on Purpose leads readers to a more relaxed, festive, and meaningful life that truly counts--for today and eternity.
Through and Beyond, TOGETHER Scary things that happen in childhood do not have to affect you forever. It was bewildering for this four year-old boy to leave my happy family in wartime "to be safe!" To be nearly shipwrecked made me terrified, then fearful throughout childhood. My parents never stopped loving us from afar, and praying. Our new American family had faith and love too. Peace did come. We did return to England! There we moved to Ilford, Young fun-loving Christian friends there accepted stuttering little me. As I grew up still feeling fragile, they pushed me to apply for college when I often felt worthless. When God heard my cries of desperation in a phone box outside the college, He healed me amazingly. I began to feel that the Creator was guiding me towards a very creative career. Jesus said "Ask". I prayed to be shown His Way. He had heard and guided through and beyond difficult times. So God gave fresh courage to go on to work with criminals and others who struggled with life. I learnt that those who really want to change can be helped. So, led by the Wonderful Counsellor I found myself starting a new Christian helping service called "Listening Post". This book is about my travelling companions through life. It tells how we learned together to help struggling people to move from despair to peace. Best of all are accounts offered by nine people who found lasting freedom beyond their struggles. Christians of all denominations put theological differences aside by coming TOGETHER to set up Christian Counselling services. Through describing these stories, we hope others like you will be encouraged. Please, put differences aside. Be single-minded. Listen to God. He hears you. He will help you listen to learn and learn to listen. Then find that real change is possible today, "With God all things are possible"

Life in the Fast Lane By: Jim Burton Author Jim Burton has lived his life in the fast lane. This book is a few entertaining and humorous short stories from his life. He was recruited by the mafia and worked with them for years. He became one of the largest art dealers in the country. He made millions on insider trading and lost it all on Black Tuesday. While he was in the business, Burton became friends with John Gotti. He did foreign currency deals with stolen money from the Vatican. In Argentina, the Feds put him in an underground prison and took 12 million dollars for his release. He became one of the largest cocaine dealers on Long Island for ten years and never got caught due to family ties. The law set him up and planted things to put Burton away. He was put in jail for years without a break or trial and he still beat them. Only the law can break the law.
