It's an extravagant Friday night wedding at one of the glitziest venues in Delhi. A young call center executive falls to her knees, shot by a drunken ex-boyfriend who'd been blackmailing her. Both Anand and Neel witness the event. One is the cause, the other, the effect. This contemporary novel traces the journeys of two men, one from India to the US, as he relentlessly chases his dreams and the other from the US to India, as he returns grudgingly, for the sake of his family. Caught between them is Tara Mehra, the woman they both love. One is her past, the other, her future. Can Anand's immense personal wealth and corporate success erase the scars of being spurned by the woman he loved? Will he realise that the only thing holding back his vision, is the extent he is willing to go, to achieve it? Can Neel win the multimillion dollar bid and cement his status with his overbearing boss? Will his American girlfriend be able to get a wedding date out of him or will her efforts be thwarted by his mother's matchmaking? Set against the backdrop of the IT industry, where aggressive growth targets and billion dollar revenues go hand in hand with the dark underbelly of Internet fraud and manipulated share prices, this is a story of crisscrossing lives and intertwined personal and professional relationships.

NOTE: This is a special edition cover. The content is the same as the original work. She fears the dark. He rules it. Her dresses are too tight, her heels too tall. She laughs too loudly, eats without decorum, and mixes up most sayings in the book. Little do most know it's just a sparkly disguise, there to hide one panic attack at a time. Nobody can crack Gianna's facade . . . no one anyway, until he comes along. Most see a paragon of morality; a special agent upholding the law. In the New York underworld, others know him as a hustler, a killer, his nature as cold as the heart of ice in his chest. Christian Allister has always followed the life plan he'd envisioned in his youth, beneath the harsh lights of a frigid, damp cell. With a proclivity for order and the number three, he's never been tempted to veer off course. But perhaps one should never say never . . . One winter night and their lives intertwine. She hates him-his stone-cold demeanor, his arrogance and too-perceptive eye-but over the years, even as their games consist of insulting each other's looks and intelligence, she begins to live to play with him. Nowhere in Christian's plans had he ever prepared for Gianna. She's chaos embodied, not his type, and married, but none of that can stop his eyes from following her wherever she goes. All along, she doesn't even know that she's his-his frustration, his fascination. His maddest obsession.
Torn between love and commitment. I was the girl with the plan. The girl that had it all together. Fate laughed at me. My life quickly became a destructive tornado, me in the middle. And as I sit here, with everything spinning around me, I feel lost, hopeless, and undeserving. I should have seen the signs. I should have fought harder for answers. Instead, I betrayed him in a way that breaks me more than him. Every decision has a consequence. To move on is to leave something behind. There are three hearts on the line. At least one is going to be broken regardless of the direction. One is safe. The other is dangerous. Dangerous in ways that you don’t come back from. The biggest problem of it all is that it’s not about me anymore, or them, but about him. He didn’t ask to be drug into this. Love brought him here. So, as I stand at the crossroads, which way do I go? The path of least resistance, or the path that will set me free . . . Note from the author: This is not written to be read as a standalone. If you have not read book one, Accepted fate, or book two, Twisting Fate, please read those first. Mature content. Series undergoing editing and cover change. Re-edited and released April 2018.
The Yezidis are a Kurdish-speaking religious minority, neither Muslim, Christian nor Jewish. At a time when studies of Kurdish nation-building are developing, this book is the first to consider Kurdish oral traditions within their social context and explain their relevance for a large Kurdish community.
Extremely popular and prolific in the 1930s and 1940s, Cornell Woolrich still has diehard fans who thrive on his densely packed descriptions and his spellbinding premises. A contemporary of Hammett and Chandler, he competed with them for notoriety in the pulps and became the single most adapted writer for films of the noir period. Perhaps the most famous film adaptation of a Woolrich story is Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954). Even today, his work is still onscreen; Michael Cristofer's Original Sin (2001) is based on one of his tales. This book offers a detailed analysis of many of Woolrich's novels and short stories; examines films adapted from these works; and shows how Woolrich's techniques and themes influenced the noir genre. Twenty-two stories and 30 films compose the bulk of the study, though many other additions of films noirs are also considered because of their relevance to Woolrich's plots, themes and characters. The introduction includes a biographical sketch of Woolrich and his relationship to the noir era, and the book is illustrated with stills from Woolrich's noir classics.
