The International Code on Intact Stability 2008 (2008 IS Code), presents mandatory and recommendatory stability criteria and other measures for ensuring the safe operation of ships, to minimize the risk to such ships, to the personnel on board and to the environment. The 2008 IS Code took effect on 1 July 2010. The 2008 IS Code features:a full update of the previous IS Code; criteria based on the best state-of-the-art concepts available at the time they were developed, taking into account sound design and engineering principles and experience gained from operating ships; influences on intact stability such as the dead ship condition, wind on ships with large windage area, rolling characteristics and severe seas. This publication also presents Explanatory Notes to the 2008 IS Code, intended to provide administrations and the shipping industry with specific guidance to assist in the uniform interpretation and application of the intact stability requirements of the 2008 IS Code.

More precisely, we shall restrict ourselves to a subclass of such systems, namely mechanical systems subject to unilateral constraints on the position, whose dynamical equations may be in a first instance written as: ii= g(q,q,u) (0. 2) f(q, t) 2: 0 where q E JRn is the vector of generalized coordinates of the system and u is an in put (or controller) that generally involves a state feedback loop, i. e. u= u(q, q, t, z), with z= Z(z, q, q, t) when the controller is a dynamic state feedback. Mechanical systems composed of rigid bodies interacting fall into this subclass. A general prop erty of systems as in (0. 1) and (0. 2) is that their solutions are nonsmooth (with respect to time): Nonsmoothness arises primarily from the occurence of impacts (or collisions, or percussions) in the dynamical behaviour, when the trajectories attain the surface f(x, t) = O. They are necessary to keep the trajectories within the subspace = {x : f(x, t) 2: O} of the system's state space.

Nous nous intéressons à la dynamique des systèmes à nombres finis de degrés de liberté dont le point représentatif, u, est contraint à rester dans un convexe K. Le système est soumis à des contraintes non monotones décrites par des super-potentiels non convexe. Lorsque les contraintes sont saturées, c'est-à-dire que u est sur la frontière de K, des contraintes monotones décrites par un super-potentiel convexe apparaissent et une loi d'impact est considérée. Trois modèles sont présentés et pour chaque modèle, un résultat d'existence est démontré. Les preuves sont basées sur des techniques de régularisation par des suites épi-convergentes et des suites régularisantes et par des techniques de pénalisation. Des résultats de compacité permettent de montrer la convergence des problèmes régularisés et la loi d'impact est obtenue par une étude locale.
This publication results from a technical meeting on phenomenology and technologies relevant to in-vessel melt retention (IVMR) and ex-vessel corium cooling (EVCC). The purpose of the publication is to capture the state of knowledge, at the time of that meeting, related to phenomenology and technologies as well as the challenges and pending issues relevant to IVMR and EVCC for water cooled reactors by summarizing the information provided by the meeting participants in a form useful to practitioners in Member States.
