The millennial members of the church have shown a lack of interest in participating in the local church's mission ministry. This lack of interest has caused the missions department and the church concern because fulfilling the mission of God is the mission of the church. The mission statement of the church is the focus of the ministry programs. Suppose the mission department creates a missions training program designed to focus on a technological learning style in which millennials thrive. Could it attract, involve, and engage millennials in future mission trips while educating them? It is this question that the research seeks to answer. Arriving at the answer is achieved by posing questions to millennials at the church via interviews and a focus group and searching books for authorial insight into their characteristics. This research will determine if conflicts within the church influenced the millennial's decision to participate. The findings from this research will be instrumental in informing and assisting churches in identifying potential problems and solutions relative to a generational group within the church.
All over the world, billions of people are walking throughout their entire lives without ever hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and they never will unless someone crosses into their culture to share it with them. Giving Gospel access to all people groups is a huge mission for the Church to tackle, but this mission is often not even known among the Millennial generation. Initial investigation for this thesis found that although some Millennials are engaging in missions, there is still a huge need for people to give, go, pray, and send, especially as older missions workers age out. Existing literature on the subject found that when Millennials don't engage in missions, it's mostly caused by a lack of awareness of the purpose, value, and opportunities for involvement in missions. Therefore, this thesis explores how the Church can better mobilize Millennials to missions. For the research process, first the existing research on Millennials and missions was reviewed. Then, case studies and visual analyses of those studies were conducted on three projects related to the topic. Finally, 9 missions workers and 13 Millennials were interviewed with a guided-storytelling-style. The research showed that Millennials need a resource tailored to them to shed light on three aspects of missions: the purpose, the value, and opportunities for involvement. The visual solution proposed by this thesis creates clear pathways for Millennials to engage with missionaries and missions opportunities so they can take ownership of the task to evangelize the nations.

GAO's prior work found that skills gaps in government-wide fields such as cybersecurity are threatening the ability of agencies to carry out their missions. At the same time, government-wide trends in federal workforce retirement threaten to aggravate the problem. To help ensure agencies have the capacity to address complex national challenges, agencies need to be competitive for top talent, including those in the millennial generation. This testimony examines (1) recent employment trends of millennials in the federal workforce and how they compare to other employee cohorts; (2) trends in engagement levels of millennials versus other employee groups; and (3) the drivers of federal employee engagement and the key lessons learned for building a culture of engagement. This statement is based on GAO's 2015 review of the trends and drivers of government-wide employee engagement and our larger body of work on federal human capital, issued primarily between January 2014 and September 2016, and is updated with more recent information. Millennials are commonly considered as those born between the early 1980s and 2000. However, for the purposes of this statement GAO is including all employees 39 years old and younger as millennials in order to provide a consistent definition across datasets.
