More than just another adventure of time travel to the past, EDDIES IN TIME chronicles the extraordinary love story of a decades long relationship that neither death nor time could destroy. After the death of his precious wife of fifty-eight years, Grayson Warren must face a world without Adeline in it -- a life that has lost all meaning and purpose, one filled with unbearable loneliness and dark emptiness. His Adeline is gone, gone from his today and from all his tomorrows. All that's left are cherished memories of their yesterdays together. For the remainder of his time on earth, Grayson and Adeline can never be together again - or can they? When Grayson's scientifically gifted grandson, Oliver, reveals to Granddaddy his remarkable discovery of a method to travel back in time based on principles similar to the ebb and flow of a river eddy, the old man's hope of seeing Adeline again is revived. But to accomplish such a momentous scientific achievement, numerous significant obstacles will need to be addressed, and many painful decisions affecting both past and future relationships will need to be carefully considered. However, it will be those unknown, unplanned happenings that will present the biggest challenges and greatest dangers for Grayson and those he loves - and for others in the past. This story could never have been told without the assistance of grandsons: Oliver Hickman, Finn Hickman, and Jett Hickman
It is March 30, 2050, Eddie's birthday. Sure, he's got a dead-end job exploiting the victims of the global ocean level rise, but at least he's in love. Everything's dandy. Right? Until he gets killed. So much for Eddie. But, wait! Now it's March 30, 2050 all over again and in a world emotionally scarred by aliens Eddie's a psychologically traumatized drug addict who can't shake the idea that he's just been murdered. Before he knows it, he's dead again. And again. And again. Eddie's trapped in a loop of inescapable awful birthdays. Why? And who is this terrifically violent Viola girl who keeps showing up and making him fall in love with her? And if it's not her, who is behind it all?Inspired by a Scientific American article detailing the twelve likely scenarios that the world could face by 2050, "Eddies in the Space-Time Continuum" covers all of them through one repeating day in the life of one poor repeating schmuck. Twelve futures. Eddie. Viola. A drowning church. A global psychological crisis. A plague of numbers. Nukes. Robot strippers. Talking pants. Aliens. Other weird stuff. And beneath it all: terror, faith, and love.
World War II. Hitler is threatening to take over the world. Eddie Carl thinks America should stop him-it's just plain right. But Eddie's just a kid, and the farm in Ellisville, Illinois, is a long way from the fighting. Ellisville: where the big news stories are gophers in the graveyard and the new bank alarm. But then America joins the war and Eddie's brother Thomas goes off to fly a bomber. Suddenly the war doesn't seem so far away. And Eddie faces more grown-up problems at home: A fire at the Strothers' place, and his gypsy friend accused of arson. Grampa Rob, all stubborn and mean. Grama Lucy with her secrets. And that redhead Sarah, who definitely likes him-unless maybe she hates him. Somehow Eddie's in the middle of it all, trying to figure out what's right. Let Thomas fight World War II. Eddie's war is right here in Ellisville. Eddie's War is a lyrical collection of prose vignettes linking Eddie, his family, and a small-town cast of Ellisvillians. Poignant and funny, this World War II story tells how a distant war affects the life of one boy in the Heartland.

When a cart falls from the fairground, he rushes to save a little girl's life and tragically dies in the attempt. When Eddie awakens, he learns that the afterlife is not a destination, but a place where your existence is explained to you by five people - some of whom you knew, others who were ostensibly strangers. One by one, from childhood to soldier to old age, five individuals revisit their connections to Eddie on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his 'meaningless' life and revealing the haunting secret behind the eternal question: 'Why was I here?' __________ WHAT READERS SAY ABOUT THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN 'Breathtakingly beautiful. Vols. 39-214 (1874/75-1921/22) have a section 2 containing "Other selected papers"; issued separately, 1923-35, as the institution's Selected engineering papers.
Goldsmith explains the Circle of Eternity--the basis of his approach to mysticism--and tells how to transcend the "parenthesis'' of our everyday lives that falls between birth and death.
Most natural and industrial flows are turbulent. The atmosphere and oceans, automobile and aircraft engines, all provide examples of this ubiquitous phenomenon. In recent years, turbulence has become a very lively area of scientific research and application, attracting many newcomers who need a basic introduction to the subject. An Introduction to Turbulent Flow, first published in 2000, offers a solid grounding in the subject of turbulence, developing both physical insight and the mathematical framework needed to express the theory. It begins with a review of the physical nature of turbulence, statistical tools, and space and time scales of turbulence. Basic theory is presented next, illustrated by examples of simple turbulent flows and developed through classical models of jets, wakes, and boundary layers. A deeper understanding of turbulence dynamics is provided by spectral analysis and its applications. The final chapter introduces the numerical simulation of turbulent flows. This well-balanced text will interest graduate students in engineering, applied mathematics, and the physical sciences.
This book was written to familiarize beginners with general theoretical principles, requirements, applications, and processing steps of the Eddy Covariance method. It is intended to assist in further understanding the method, and provides references such as textbooks, network guidelines and journal papers. It is also intended to help students and researchers in field deployment of instruments used with the Eddy Covariance method, and to promote its use beyond micrometeorology.
The currents in the River of Time are powerful--powerful enough to pull Joe Samson in opposite directions, effectively splitting his soul and pulling him away from one destiny to another. However, all countercurrents must eventually rejoin the main channel. Only one Joe can exit the eddy and continue to live. Joe must journey back in time to the very birth of his soul to discover the connections in past lives that will affect his seemingly impossible decision on which Joe will exit the eddy.
The formational theory and characteristics of anticyclonic Gulf Stream eddies in the western North Atlantic Ocean are summarized. Their occurrence, trajectories, and structure, are observed using XBT data and infrared satellite imagery to relate their passage through Deepwater Dumpsite 106 off the New York Bight and over the continental slope and rise. The frequency with which these eddies pass through the dumpsite, their residence times within the dumpsite, and the total time they occur the dumpsite each year are computed to determine their potential effects on ocean dumping.
