About the turn of the 20th century interest in economic geology had reached a high level in North America. A forum was needed where prevailing ideas about the genesis of ore deposits could be thrashed out and new ones presented. An idea was breeding that was shortly to give rise to another new concept - a journal of economic geology in the English language. A meeting in Washington D.C. in 1904 resulted in the production of the journal the following year. This volume includes a history of the journal and various papers on aspects of economic geology.
