Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a vital part in the continued development of computer science and informatics. The AI applications employed in fields such as medicine, economics, linguistics, philosophy, psychology and logical analysis, not forgetting industry, are now indispensable for the effective functioning of a multitude of systems. This book presents the papers from the 20th biennial European Conference on Artificial Intelligence, ECAI 2012, held in Montpellier, France, in August 2012. The ECAI conference remains Europe's principal opportunity for researchers and practitioners of Artificial Intelligence to gather and to discuss the latest trends and challenges in all subfields of AI, as well as to demonstrate innovative applications and uses of advanced AI technology. ECAI 2012 featured four keynote speakers, an extensive workshop program, seven invited tutorials and the new Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence track, in which six invited speakers delivered perspective talks on particularly interesting new research results, directions and trends in Artificial Intelligence or in one of its related fields. The proceedings of PAIS 2012 and the System Demonstrations Track are also included in this volume, which will be of interest to all those wishing to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of AI.
This Festschrift was published in honor of Hans L. Bodlaender on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The 14 full and 5 short contributions included in this volume show the many transformative discoveries made by H.L. Bodlaender in the areas of graph algorithms, parameterized complexity, kernelization and combinatorial games. The papers are written by his former Ph.D. students and colleagues as well as by his former Ph.D. advisor, Jan van Leeuwen. Chapter “Crossing Paths with Hans Bodlaender: A Personal View on Cross-Composition for Sparsification Lower Bounds” is available open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License via link.springer.com.
This two volume set LNCS 9418 and LNCS 9419 constitutes the proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Web Information Systems Engineering, WISE 2015, held in Miami, FL, USA, in November 2015. The 53 full papers, 17 short and 14 special sessions and invited papers, presented in these proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from 189 submissions. The two-volume set LNCS 7044 and 7045 constitutes the refereed proceedings of three confederated international conferences: Cooperative Information Systems (CoopIS 2011), Distributed Objects and Applications - Secure Virtual Infrastructures (DOA-SVI 2011), and Ontologies, DataBases and Applications of SEmantics (ODBASE 2011) held as part of OTM 2011 in October 2011 in Hersonissos on the island of Crete, Greece. The 55 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 141 submissions. This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 22nd International Conference on Inductive Logic Programming, ILP 2012, held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in September 2012. The 18 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 41 submissions. Data warehouse is one of the components of the overall business intelligence system. An enterprise has one data warehouse, and data marts source has their information from the data warehouse. The Data warehouse is a corporation of all data marts within the enterprise. Information is always accumulated in the dimensional model. In this paper, an intelligent data repository with soft computing is presented. It covers similarity metrics that are commonly used to improve the efficiency of data storages. It also covers multiple decision making methodologies to improve the efficiency of decision making.
The inspiration for this book came from the Industrial Session of the ISMIS 2017 Conference in Warsaw. It covers numerous applications of intelligent technologies in various branches of the industry. Intelligent computational methods and big data foster innovation and enable the industry to overcome technological limitations and explore the new frontiers. Therefore it is necessary for scientists and practitioners to cooperate and inspire each other, and use the latest research findings to create new designs and products. As such, the contributions cover solutions to the problems experienced by practitioners in the areas of artificial intelligence, complex systems, data mining, medical applications and bioinformatics, as well as multimedia- and text processing. Further, the book shows new directions for cooperation between science and industry and facilitates efficient transfer of knowledge in the area of intelligent information systems.
