I've been selling online for fifteen years now. During that time I've learned a lot about bookkeeping, business permits, and taxes. During that same time I have saved thousands of dollars in taxes by saving my receipts and keeping good records. And, so here's the deal... > Did you know eBay has an app that can automatically import all of your sales, fees, and other information and crunch the numbers to show whether you're making a profit or loss? > Did you know that same app will also import all of your information from Etsy and Amazon, if you sell on those platforms? > What would you say if I told you that you could save $500 or more on your taxes every year just by writing down the mileage when you head to the post office, store, or bank? > And, you'd probably think I'd lost my marbles if I told you that you could deduct parts of your next vacation from your taxes. The advice in this little book can easily save you thousands of dollars every year.

Selling on eBay isn't a game. You need to have a plan. eBay 2014 walks you through what it takes to sell on eBay. It answers all of your questions, and gives you ideas about how to get started and grow your eBay business. Do you ever wonder how some sellers can grow a strong thriving business, while others barely scrape by? Many times, I've watched two sellers as they are first starting out on eBay. Both sellers offer the exact same products and prices, yet one business skyrockets to the top of the charts selling thousands of items per month. The other business struggles to sell ten or fifteen items per month. They might even have the same basic look to their listings. On the face of it, it doesn't make sense. Why does one eBay seller prosper, while another falls behind? Is it a matter of luck? Does one eBay seller catch all of the breaks, while another is stuck holding doo doo? Believe it or not, many struggling sellers believe this. They think it's all a matter of luck.
In an age of ubiquitous digital media and permanent mutual observation scandals are omnipresent. Everybody can release them, everybody can become their victim. Videos on mobile phones terminate careers, Twitter messages generate outrage, and SMS messages turn into evidence. Documents of embarrassment and public disgrace today display a novel kind of lightness and agility. They can be copied in no time, spread very quickly, resist all censorship - and in the extreme case stir up worldwide indignation. The consequence: the reputation of the powerful and the powerless, of enterprises and states, can be destroyed in record time. In order to illustrate these considerations the books describes recent case-(hi)stories, discussing public figures such as Tiger Woods and Anthony Weiner, the powerful and the helpless that suddenly find themselves in a worldwide pillory.
Everyday eBay is the first scholarly analysis of the internet marketplace that has become a global social, cultural and economic phenomenon. The eighteen new and classic essays gathered here examine eBay from a wide variety of perspectives as a bellwether of taste and material culture; as a rich site of cultural, racial, and sexual discourse and practice; as an emergent media form; and as a facilitator of global consumerism. From old toys steeped in nostalgia to 'rare' limited edition shoes, the contributors demonstrate that value on eBay is never simply about 'price'. On any given day, more than two million items are listed for sale on eBay, from everyday objects to kitsch and collectibles to the truly bizarre. Since its debut ten years ago, eBay has quickly become a central destination for millions of web browsers. According to eBay itself, up to 165,000 Americans now make their living by selling through the website, and other business analysts project that hundreds of thousands of individuals worldwide now make their living through eBay.
Today, Craigslist is one of the most well known of all online urban communities on the web. It allows people to place free classified adverts relating to various subjects, as well as having forums where people can discuss various topics. Craigslist was founded by Craig Newmark from the San Francisco Bay Area in 1995. Then it became incorporated in 1999. Since its incorporation as of November 2006, there were over 450 cities where a Craigslist has been established. The business now operates with a team of 24 people, and the only way they make any revenue today is through the job adverts paid for in selected cities around the States. Ads placed by companies in the San Francisco Bay Area cost $75, while those placed by companies or businesses in New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, Seattle and Washington DC will cost them $25 for each advert placed. Also today, a real estate broker will need to pay $10 for any apartment listings they place on Craigslist for New York. Today, this site is receiving over 500,000 new job listings each month, and so makes it one of the top job boards in the world today. The classified adverts that are placed on this site range from more traditional ones where people are able to buy and sell goods, to community announcements...even personal adverts or erotic services are being provided through this site. In its early years, most of the postings placed on the Craigslist were submitted by its founder, and were generally dealing with social events that were of interest to software and internet developers who lived and worked in the San Francisco area. However, as more and more people learned about this site, it began to grow at an extremely high rate. Certainly, as more and more subscribers began to use the site, so the number of postings to it also began to grow as well. Certainly those people who were looking to fill technical positions found this list to be a great way of reaching those with the necessary skills that they were searching for. Because of this, the demand for a section dedicated to jobs was created. Plus, the demand by the lists’ users for more categories to be able to post and search under also began to grow as well. It was at this time that more and more of the sites users asked for a web interface to be set up. It was through the help of various volunteers and contractors that such a website user interface was created for each different mailing list category to be found on the list. As the domain required a name, Craig Newman first registered “craigslist.org” and then followed it up later on with “craigslist.com”, which helped to prevent the name from being used for some other purpose. Certainly if you were to search on Craigslist today, the most popular of all the forums is the one known as the “Erotic Forum”. This forum is now often used by law enforcement agencies for decoy operations, and Craigslist co-operates in any way it can to help prevent its users from selling drugs, sex or stolen property through its listings. Through this book, we are going to look at the ways in which a person can legally profit from using Craigslist. We will discuss the ways in which a person can set up a business in their own home, and which will provide them with a chance to earn an additional income or their main form of income.
