III., pages 396-412) preliminary abstracts of the annual returns of gas and electric companies for the year 1909. Preliminary abstracts of the annual returns for 1910 were pre pared early in 1911 and furnished to such persons as made appli cation for them. In neither case was it possible to make any corrections in the returns other than those pertaining to gross inaccuracies or errors of classification disclosed in a superficial examination. The returns for both' years have Since been subjected to critical examination, and corrections of errors have been required on the part of the reporting company. The process of correction was in some cases quite tedious and was not completed at the time this report was sent to the printer, so that certain corrections have been made in proof.
