Este ejemplar incluye las reflexiones derivadas de las numerosas actividades que ha realizado la Cátedra Iberdrola de Ética Económica y Empresarial en el curso 2020-2021. Los textos que dan forma a esta memoria han sido escritos por profesores, investigado-res, profesionales y doctorandos especializados en ética empresarial y la gestión de la sostenibilidad en las organizaciones. La Memoria está dividida en dos bloques diferenciados. Por un lado, las actividades del curso propiciaron el debate en torno a la educación y el papel de la Universidad en la concienciación social y consecución de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible. Estos textos se integran en un primer bloque titulado Repensar la educación y el papel de la Universidad para la consecución de la Agenda 2030. El segundo bloque aborda una serie de temáticas variadas que hemos englobado bajo el epígrafe avances en la investigación de la ética, la responsabilidad social y la sostenibilidad. La razón es que las distintas actividades de la Cátedra desarrolladas durante este año han propiciado reflexiones y resultados de investigaciones que abarcan temáticas muy distintas y de plena actualidad en relación con estos temas. Estamos seguros de que el lector encontrará en esta Memoria un contenido estimulante intelectualmente, debido al análisis sopesado y las propuestas que se incluyen en la obra.
The book is based on the exchange of professional experiences which featured in an IUCN CEC workshop in August 2002. Practitioners from around the world shared their models of good practice and explored the challenges involved in engaging people in sustainability. The difficulties facing practitioners vary between country and context but some challenges are universal: A lack of clarity in communicating what is meant by sustainable development; An ambition to educate everyone to bring about a global citizenship; Social, organisational or institutional factors constrain change to sustainable development, yet there is an emphasis on formal education, and community educators do not receive the same support; A lack of balance in addressing the integration of environmental, social and economic dimensions leading to an interpretation that ESD is mainly about environment and conservation issues; New learning (rather than teaching) approaches are called for to promote more debate in society. This handbook focuses on and compares the education systems in the three Americas: North, Central and South America, and includes a chapter on most countries in the region. The chapters follow a common structure and include schematic diagrams of the structure of mainstream education from pre-primary to tertiary level. Each chapter starts with a description of the historical and social foundations of the education system from the post-World War II period up to today, including political, economic and cultural contexts and conditions. By highlighting important dates and structural decisions, the current education system can be understood as resulting from past developments. The first part ends with a description of the transitions to the labour market that are offered, and the way in which these are organized in the education system described. The second part consists of an overview of the institutional and organizational principles as well as the structure of education from pre-primary to tertiary level. It includes a focus on legislative bases and financial provisions for the education system and a description of the structure by using the ISCED-classification. It further includes information of the supply of human resources such as teachers and other educators. The third and final part of the handbook discusses selected educational trends and aspects. In this context, three topics are of particular interest: dealing with inequality, ICT and digitization activities, and STEM-related policies and programmes.
