Today, illness is almost universally regarded as either a nuisance or a grave misfortune. In contrast to this conventional thinking, Rudolf Steiner places the suffering caused by disease in a broad vista that includes an understanding of karma and personal metamorphosis. Illness comes to expression in the physical body, but mostly does not originate in it, says Steiner, and thus a key part of the physician’s work involves gaining insight into the whole nature of an individual – his essential core being. From this perspective, illness offers us the opportunity for deeper healing. Throughout this volume Rudolf Steiner draws our attention to the greater scope of the smallest phenomena – even a seemingly insignificant headache. He casts vivid light on things we normally take for granted, such as the human capacity to laugh or cry, and in the process broadens our vision of human existence. The apparently mundane human experiences of forgetting and remembering are intrinsic to our humanity, for example, and have unsuspected moral and spiritual dimensions. Steiner’s insights are never merely ‘lofty’ or nebulously ‘spiritual’ but time and again connect with the minutest realities of everyday life. In these 18 lectures, delivered on a weekly basis as part of an ongoing course covering ‘the whole field of spiritual science’, Steiner elaborates in detail on the diverse interplay of the human being’s constituting aspects (physical body, etheric body, astral body and ego or ‘I’) in relation to rhythmic processes, developing consciousness, the history of human evolution, and our connection with the cosmos. Within this broad canvas, some of his themes acquire a very distinctive focus – such as vivid accounts of the ‘intimate history’ of Christianity, ‘creating out of nothing’, the interior of the earth, and health and illness. Other topics include: the nature of pain, suffering, pleasure and bliss; the four human group souls of lion, bull, eagle and man; the significance of the Ten Commandments; the nature of original sin; the deed of Christ and the adversary powers of Lucifer, Ahriman and the Asuras; evolution and involution; the Atlantean period – and even Friedrich Nietzsche’s madness!

The medicine of the 20th century was about the treatment of illness. The medicine of the 21st century is about wellness. Crossing the Healing Zone advances the new concepts of the emerging frontiers of integrative medicine, bringing together Eastern and Western healing traditions and merging body, mind, and spirit in a Jungian perspective. The journey through the Healing Zone that Dr. Bedi proposes is guided by archetypes and myths, active imagination, dreams and synchronicities, and the neuroplastic mysteries of our complex physical reality. The Healing Zone can be described in many ways—as the fourth dimension of consciousness, as quantum consciousness, as Jung’s “psychoid space,” as the Buddhist Third Way, or as the “gap” between the ego and the soul. Here, we can access all three areas of the triune brain—reptilian, limbic, and neocortical—all of which must be addressed in order to achieve full integration and healing. The Healing Zone is a bridge between the ego and the soul—a bridge that we can cross to reach the healing wisdom of the universe. Dr. Bedi outlines how to work with psychological and soul processes in moving from illness to wellness, and provides practical methods and techniques that can help readers access and engage the Healing Zone. The book contains informative and visual guidelines and practices that can help us create and manage our own personal wellness programs and become full and active partners in our own journeys from illness to wellness.
A unique approach to using numerology to identify life challenges and karmic lessons to heal emotional and physical problems • Provides a clear method for identifying challenges specific to your birthday and name • Details 185 health conditions and how to address the causes using numerology--from addictions and Alzheimer’s disease to thyroid problems, heart failure, and cancer • Offers guidance in understanding universal abandonment issues and how these affect our behavior In Numerology for Healing, Michael Brill combines numerology with psychology, quantum physics, and the concepts of gematria and reincarnation to create a unique approach to healing emotional and physical problems based on life challenges and karmic lessons. Humans suffer from a profound sense of abandonment when the soul is decanted from the Universal Oneness into the confines of a personality. Brill explains how this sense of abandonment manifests itself in two principal types of behavior: people work to be loved and appreciated for who they are, or they try to control and micromanage their lives and relationships so that nothing goes wrong. Both of these behavior patterns are exhausting physically, emotionally, and mentally and are clear catalysts for illness. Brill details 185 physical and mental health conditions and shows how to identify and treat the causes--from addictions and Alzheimer’s disease to thyroid problems, heart failure, and cancer. For instance, he reveals that, in general, illnesses beginning with the letter “A” (acne and alcoholism) have issues of self-esteem as one of the basic causes, whereas illnesses beginning with letter “G” (gallstones and glaucoma) are associated with a need to be in control, in relationships or at work. By using the numerology of your birth date and name, Numerology for Healing makes it easy to identify your positive and negative tendencies and characteristics and to use them as the key to achieving a healthier life.
Each human life is the result of a unique set of causes and effects—a condensation, as it were, of past actions, some of which stretch back over many lifetimes. To the student of the esoteric, our bodies—both inner and outer—are receptacles for creative as well as destructive energies and are the product of those cosmic laws of cause and effect known as karma. This book explains the fundamental concept of karma and examines the way karmic consequences manifest in a variety of physical diseases, ranging from arthritis to schizophrenia and alcoholism.
Mental and emotional disorders have reached epidemic levels in Western societies. Self-doubt, panic-attacks, anxiety disorders and personal fears of all kinds present major challenges to contemporary medical science. Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual research offers a startlingly original and complementary contribution to the problem. True insight into psychological issues requires knowledge of the influences of spiritual beings, he suggests. In everyday life we are all confronted with metaphysical entities that can hinder or progress our development. Many forms of anxiety and self-doubt derive from such meetings on the border – or threshold – of our consciousness. Further, these ‘threshold experiences’ are exacerbated today by a general loosening of the subtle bodies and components of the human soul. As these constitutional changes persist, says Rudolf Steiner, a condition of ‘dissociation’ becomes increasingly common. A healthy emotional life will only be possible if individuals engage in a conscious practice of personal growth, strengthening their constitution through the action of the ‘I’ or self. The expertly selected and collated texts in Self-Doubt offer numerous cognitive and practical ideas for the improvement of everyday mental and emotional health. Chapters include: The origin of error, fear, and nervousness; Crossing the threshold in the development of humanity and the individual; The polarity of shame and fear; The polarity of doubt and terrifying disorientation; The polarity of scepticism and claustrophobia, astraphobia, and agoraphobia; The origin of panic; Anxiety; The multi-layered nature of terrifying disorientation; Healing aspects of the anthroposophical path of training; The spiritual-scientific qualities of fear compared with standardized diagnostic terms and as a basis for therapy.

Are physical and mental illnesses the result of karma acquired in a past life, and if so, does uncovering that lifetime lead to healing? According to the yearlong research project conducted by author and past-life specialist, Joanne DiMaggio, the answer is yes! Fifty volunteers, ranging in age from 34 to 74, participated in the project. They came in suffering from such chronic conditions as arthritis; diabetes; joint and limb pain; head trauma; weight and digestive troubles; sexual dysfunction; skin conditions; liver and kidney issues; drug and alcohol abuse; and mental illness. Employing past-life regression and augmenting the session with soul writing, i.e., writing in an altered state of consciousness, the project sought to find the buried past-life story behind the present-day malady. The book explores the experiences of 23 of those volunteers, sharing the details of the regression, the transcript of the soul-writing session, and the results of the follow-up interview to determine whether the session resulted in the condition being healed, improved, or remain the same. The results are fascinating. Karma Can Be a Real Pain illustrates how ordinary men and women met their past-life aspects and discovered the karmic origin of their chronic condition, resulting in a healthier, happier life in the here and now--and beyond. Karma can be a real pain, but lucky for us, there is a cure!
Rudolf Steiner's third great lecture course to physicians has a completely different character to his previous presentations. Delivered in response to a group of young doctors – who approached Steiner with the specific request for a course that would be 'quite intimate', but should not contain anything '...which appealed only to knowledge and the intellect' – it offers unique, ground-breaking insights into the practice and art of healing. Steiner speaks about the influence of cosmic and earthly forces – the periphery and centre – on the human being. Proper understanding of these processes enables the physician to comprehend the actions of plants and minerals used in anthroposophic medicines, and thus to prescribe appropriate and individually specific remedies. Steiner paints a picture of the human being as a complex confluence of the forces of heredity, forces from the cosmos, and an individual's unique spiritual nature. The physician has to understand these relationships in order to be able to help effectively when they are out of balance. Steiner stresses the importance of personal development for physicians, and offers plentiful instructions for a meditative practice intrinsic to their work. Among a wealth of other topics, Steiner addresses inflammation and excessive growth; the nature of scarlet fever and measles; the importance of a child's food and breast milk; the functions of the liver, heart, head and skeleton; the incarnation process; karma as a guide for the physician; morality as a force streaming in from the cosmos; the cosmic trinity of Saturn, Sun and Moon in the healthy and sick human being; and the involvement of the heart in thinking. Included here are Rudolf Steiner's answers to questions, and the first newsletter from the Medical Section, with a key meditation for physicians. This volume also features 18 full colour plates of Rudolf Steiner's blackboard drawings, a comprehensive introduction, index and notes.
