Various Multiple Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) techniques in one book: 13 MCDM techniques have been applied, namely, WSM, WPM, WASPAS, GRA, SMART, CRITIC, ENTROPY, EDAS, MOORA, AHP, TOPSIS, VIKOR, and new tools: MDEMATEL, Fuzzy MDEMATEL, Modified Fuzzy TOPSIS and Modified Fuzzy VIKOR. This research is targeted at investigating all aspects of sustainable manufacturing awareness and practice level based on the 6R concept. Malaysian manufactures have been assessed and categorized into electrical and electronics industries, engineering supporting and machinery industries, and other industries. There were four main objectives determined for this study: determining the companies' practices related to sustainability and proposing improving actions contributing to the sustainability enhancement of products and processes. For data collection, online questionnaire was used and there are six main sections use to help analyze the factors and find the correlations within the factors and their correlation with general information of the company and the person in charge of the questionnaire. Six main sections that involved are general information, sustainability concept, three issues of society, environment and economics, energy savings and waste tracking methods, reusing - recycling - remanufacturing, life cycle activities and suggestions. General information and the conceptual questions were analyzed with descriptive analysis. Likert scaled questions were analyzed with mean score and correlation analysis (regression and ANOVA), Fisher test (for StD differences) and T-test (for mean differences). Lastly the survey results show that the level of awareness on sustainable manufacturing has direct relationship with the sustainable manufacturing practices. The sustainable awareness and practices related to most of the Rs (6Rs) is at a satisfactory level while in some of the Rs the practice levels seem to need attention.
Economic development has long been acknowledged for its beneficial effects on human well-being. In the context of economic globalization and vertical specialization, increasing the quality of export products is more critical and necessary to export success and sustainable development. The product's quality is inextricably linked to its manufacture and production, which need various types of energy and raw materials. Meanwhile, the adoption of more environmentally friendly and cleaner energy sources contributes to the achievement of sustainable production. Therefore, product quality may provide a new perspective from which to investigate the systematic relationship between greener and renewable energy sources, sustainable production and environmental regulations, as well as the nature of export competitiveness. Generally, export product quality has referred to the quality of manufactured products within the product lines. Quality refers to the relative price of a country's varieties within their respective product lines. Product sophistication assesses the composition of the aggregate exports. Different varieties of same product as per quality level are being produced by several developing and emerging economies. Within any given product line, quality converges both conditionally and unconditionally to the world's benchmark; increases in institutional quality and human capital are associated with faster quality upgrading. In turn, faster growth in quality is associated with more rapid output growth.
