Fatherly advice from a police officer to his daughter in the lasting form of letters, which provide the kind of sound advice that anyone -- young or old -- can learn from.Demitri Kornegay knew that by the nature of his profession, he risked losing his life every time he went to work. And he started to fear that if he were to die in the line of duty, his young daughter, Rhonda, would never benefit from all of the fatherly advice he wanted to give her.So Demitri started writing letters to Rhonda. Each letter tackles a different subject, offering parental advice about everything from maintaining a loving marriage to dealing with depression to understanding race relations. And while he doesn't hesitate to offer his own opinions, Demitri also suggests that his advice be used as a springboard for discovering one's own life philosophies.Demitri's universal themes offer the type of timeless advice that every father wishes he could impart to his children.
We all have a story to tell. Three years after losing his first wife to breast cancer in 2001, Scott met Rhonda through an Internet dating service, and, after a whirlwind romance, they married in 2005. The next few years were filled with both bliss and the challenges of blending two families and five children. In 2009, Rhonda was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Full of suspense, riveting, and deeply mesmerizing, Manipulation Unto Death is a fictional melodrama that will at times amuse you and unglue you and will stay in your memory bank forever. Samantha, a pregnant Southern-raised sheltered twelve-year-old, is missing without a trail, hot or cold. Voluminous speculations were made throughout the red hills of Georgia and beyond about this unlawful, horrific, sinful act. The local police and social service departments became involved, both launching full-scale investigations, sparing no resources. Given the intensity of the investigation, one might wonder why the community members of this nondenominational religious sect are deliberately tight-lipped. Sadly, the investigation constantly stalls; the police take a long shot and call in a renowned psychic. Is a resolution required to reexamine the age-old notion that children are to be seen but not heard? Or perhaps is it embedded in societys lack of awareness and acceptance of the wide spectrum of autism disorders?
"The Final Call Of The Traveling Soldier" is a novel based on stories my father told me from his life and the lives of his ancestors. Not only did I get the story from my father, but also many elderly people that lived at this time. Due to the content this book was particularly hard for me to write. So with the blessing of my father I enlisted the help of a good friend of mine, Mr. Thomas Cook. I remember my father's sister, Donnie Mae Campbell, loved to talk about the early years. She talked many times about Pastor Daniel and his life. I remember going to church one day and she saw a field of cotton. She had me turn around just so she could go pick some cotton. She kept feeling the cotton and saying, "This is what we had to do." I hope and pray that this book is worthy of the faith placed in me by Willie (Pete) Jenkins by entrusting me with his story.
