The purpose of this book, first published in 1996, is to bring attention to and examine the articulation of lesbian themes, motifs and issues in the works of these writers. It aims to study the problems pertaining to the specific literary representations of lesbianism and to examine the dimensions of a lesbian view in the works. By undertaking the study of the works of these women writers, this book contributes to the recognition and legitimization of a lesbian literary discourse.

No sé si el libro será de su agrado, ya que sobre gustos no hay nada escrito, pero de todas maneras he puesto todo en él, la ilusión de conectar con la gente, de aportar algo al sistema educativo y cultural del planeta, etc., pero lo que sí es cierto es que les guste o no, es un intento de acercarme a Uds. y a la verdad de las cosas. Escribir mi testimonio tomó varios años, no porque tuviera que pensarlo mucho para decidir qué escribir, pues la historia no podría fluir con mas facilidad. Mi experiencia de Dios, que narré en la primera versión de mi libro conocido en español como "Testimonio" y en otros idiomas en que ha sido traducido como "De la Oscuridad a la luz", es tan rica en eventos, en etapas, en niveles, en interminables dimensiones espirituales, que podría seguir ampliándola por el resto de mi vida. A pesar de no tener una formación teológica o de ciencias religiosas que me acredite como docto en estos temas, he tenido mucha libertad de expresar estos misterios. Es una plena dicha compartir con ustedes todas estas experiencias que he tenido con Dios. Lo invito entonces querido lector, a navegar conmigo por estas aguas sobrenaturales de mi testimonio y le pido a Dios que imparta una gran bendición sobre su vida para que se convierta en un verdadero faro de luz en este mundo de tinieblas. Chicana Feminisms presents new essays on Chicana feminist thought by scholars, creative writers, and artists.
