The objective of this study is to depict the energy environment regarding the various sources of energy, the correlation of energy mixes, various trends of transition and mainly corruption of these preceding aspects. An insight of successful and failing counter-measures is also provided. The term corruption in an economic environment is defined as fraud, bribery, immorality and misuse of power, however the actual scope is greater, as the interdependencies of nations, economies and their corresponding interactions create disruptions and discrepancies – especially when lobbying is exploited. Misinformation and the corruption of data are the most difficult research topics, as science should not be misused in forcing an opinion with falsifying facts for instance and must not lead to technical provable contradictions. The approach to fight corruption is most likely to be efficient and successful if performed supranational on all public sectors - with adaptations to the energy sector - by all means with high collaborative efforts.
Huawei Goes Global provides a much-needed, comprehensive, and scholarly examination of the business environment and the striving global operations of China’s technology giant. With theoretical research, case studies, data analysis, and empirical studies, this two-volume work tells a fascinating story of internationalization in an emerging economy. As one of the most powerful Chinese companies in the global economy, the largest global telecommunications-equipment producer and a leading consumer-electronics manufacturer, Huawei is a great example of the globalization of the Chinese enterprises in the twenty-first century. In Volume I, scholars critically examine the rise of Huawei as a Chinese global enterprise from the political economy and public policy perspectives, as well as Huawei’s development strategies, innovations, and talent management. In Volume II, multiple authors carefully study the growth of Huawei from regional and geopolitical perspectives, and its corporate communication and crisis management. Within the framework of the trade conflicts between China and the US, controversies over economic sanctions, intellectual-property disputes, and espionage and cyber security concerns, this groundbreaking work makes an important contribution to both academic literature and the ongoing public discourse on Huawei. In the aftermath of the financial crisis, investors are searching for new opportunities and products to safeguard their investments for the future. Riding high on the wave of new financial opportunities are Alternative Alternatives (AA). However, there is a dearth of information on what Alternative Alternatives are, how they work, and how they can be profited from. The book defines what Alternative Alternatives are, based on research and the following hypothesis: If the source (origin) of the risk lies outside of the financial markets, then it should be insulated from the vagaries of those markets. The book identifies and examines such and other unique, idiosyncratic, and difficult to replicate sources of risk - assets and strategies. The recent credit and sovereign debt crisis have served to defend the hypothesis and have upheld the conclusion that alternative alternative assets and strategies offer a risk-return profile that is distinct to those offered by traditional and main stream hedge fund strategies. These strategies include timberland investing, insurance risk transfer, asset/loan based lending (aviation, shipping, trade, entertainment, litigation financing etc), collectables and extraction strategies such as volatility and behaviour finance. This book will be a one stop resource to the new investment class known globally as Alternative Alternatives (AA) and will provide a comprehensive but accessible introduction to these assets. It provides an in-depth analysis of the assets and strategies which will leave investors with everything they need to identify and allocate to the best AA for them. It reviews the asset on a standalone basis, providing an explanation of the product, its characteristics, a SWOT analysis, and details its risk/reward drivers. The book also looks at how to integrate the asset within a portfolio - its peculiarities, the challenges and the constraints of each. Next, the book shows how Alternative Alternatives are used in the real world, how they are implemented, and the results that they have achieved. Finally, the book looks at the scope, scalability and prospects for each asset in the future.

In this study, the use of waste coffee grounds for biodiesel producution, its solid by-product after oil extraction for bioethanol generation, and the second by-product after bioethanol generation for solid fuel generation is explored. For the study, waste coffee grounds samples were gathered from TOMOCA PLC, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The oil was then concentrated utilizing n-hexane and brought about an oil yield of 19.73 %w/w. The biodiesel was acquired by a two-stage process, i.e. acid catalyzed esterification followed by base catalyzed transesterification utilizing catalysts sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide respectively. The change, after esterification of waste coffee grounds oil into biodiesel, was about 80.4%w/w. Different parameters that are fundamental for biodiesel quality were assessed utilizing the American Standard for Testing Material (ASTM D 6751- 09) and revealed that all quality parameters are inside the extent pointed out aside from acid value. Also, the strong waste staying after oil extraction was researched for conceivable use as a feedstock for the generation of bioethanol and brought about a bioethanol yield of 8.3 %v/v. Moreover, the solid waste staying after bioethanol generation was assessed for solid fuel (20.8 MJ/Kg) applications.
Harambeans is a collection of stories - stories of sacrifice, leadership and vision. Stories of young African entrepreneurial leaders in the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance (Harambeans), who have chosen to leverage their skills, networks and education to address the needs of their communities. Their inspiring tales reveal the values propelling the emerging generation of young African leaders and suggest that while their ventures may bend to the inescapable whims of the entrepreneurial process, their values endure and will continue to find expression in the lifework of these young leaders. Three stories, three traits: Servant Leadership told through the journey of Kwami Williams of Ghana; Enduring Optimism as seen through the eyes of Ms. Sabina Ndakorerwa of Rwanda; and Deliberate Audacity as experienced by Mr. Obinna Ukwuani of Nigeria. In her Foreword, Obiageli Ezekwesili, former World Bank Africa Vice President, captured the essence of Harambeans: "Okendo's brief and timely reflection affords us insights into the character and innovative potential of Africa's youth. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed watching the steady progress of Harambe. May it inspire other young Africans and strengthen our confidence in the unlimited potential of Africa's youth."
