Love Chameleon is an anthology of contrarian poems penned over 20 years wherein the poet uses the metaphor of the "Chameleon" to elucidate the complex themes of love, lust, loss, longing, sexuality and outdated social mores. The book is paradoxical in that it blends several contradictory elements to make a powerful whole - it is at once intrepidly bold and sensual, movingly sensitive and absurdly hilarious. The poems are further multi-layered in that they exist at the level of words but also convey higher meaning at another, more metaphysical level. In the end, the book truly captivates by its sheer candidness matched in equal measure with a witty and vibrant play of words.
Smugglers, illegal aliens, shoot-outs and pretty women offering bribes were all a part of the daily life of early Border Patrol officers in the American West, specifically the border area between Arizona and Mexico. There is non-stop action as agents hunt down criminals, chase fugitives and go underground to break up a smuggling ring. * * * * * Alvin Edward Moore was a member of the U.S. Border Patrol on the Arizona-Mexico boundary between 1926 and 1928 and this book is based on his personal experiences. A retired naval officer and patent attorney, Moore also served with the CIA. He was formerly an American vice-consul in Mexico and has published four books and numerous short stories, articles and poems. "Denver Westerner's Roundup" reported, "It is sometimes said that fact is stranger than fiction, and this book seems to reinforce that statement. He has written of eight of his adventures during that time and certainly crammed a lot of adventure into a couple of years on the border."

Yet Helm found success in an acting career that included roles in Coal Miner’s Daughter and The Right Stuff. Regaining his singing voice, he made his last decade a triumph, opening his barn to the Midnight Rambles and earning three Grammys.

This book is based on love during a locked-up experience that I had personally with a locked-up inmate. While certainly a learning curve spiritually and emotionally, I wish I had read this book first as I might have rethought my journey based on my goals in life. My journey started in 2015 and, unfortunately, ended in 2021. This experience was based in Florida, so the content of this book is based on facts witnessed in the Florida prison system. Thank you to all my friends and family who put up with the highs and lows of my journey. Thank you for loving me through it all and the support you all gave. I am in great hopes that my journey will help someone else avoid any heartache. Be blessed.
