Reprint of the ed. published between 1874-1877 by Breitkopf & Heartel, Leipzig under title: Feur Pianoforte allein.
These three volumes, in practical urtext-pedagogical editions, are designed with the idea that these precious works will be performed on the modern piano. With respect to the original text, Dr. Hinson offers many valuable, stylistically faithful suggestions for interpretation. Volume I is appropriate for progressing intermediate students, and provides a most effective introduction to the great Viennese Classical style.
This exciting edition contains 100 early intermediate selections in their original form, spanning the Baroque period to present day. The repertoire, which includes several minuets, folk dances, character pieces and much more, has been carefully graded and selected for student appeal by editor Lynn Freeman Olson.
Originally composed in 1890 as "Tarantelle Styrienne," Debussy reissued the piece in 1903 under the title "Danse." This is one of Debussy's most brilliant dances, and was such a favorite of Maurice Ravel's that he arranged it for orchestra in 1923.
Warner Bros. Publications presents a new series featuring the works of Ludwig van Beethoven. Donald Beattie, founder and president of The Beethoven Society for Pianists, along with his wife Delayna, has compiled and edited these collections based on years of teaching experience and their love of Beethoven's works. Each volume offers a comprehensive look into the works of the master. Each volume includes performance notes plus a section entitled "Beethoven As Our Teacher," providing interesting stories about the composer's life -- perfect for recital programs. All pieces have been carefully edited with the student in mind. With this library, students will grow both technically and musically through the powerful pieces of Beethoven. Volume I contains twelve pieces for the early-intermediate student, including numerous dances, folk songs, studies, and a few independent pieces.
Virtually all of the composer's works for piano solo: 4 piano sonatas, "Invitation to the Dance," 8 sets of variations, "Grande Polonaise," others. Authoritative C. F. Peters edition.
This edition is the first of eight companion volumes to accompany the recorded series and draws on the expertise of Dr. Robert Hoskins of Massey University and Rod Biss, formerly of Schott London, Faber Music and Price Milburn Music, who was instrumental in first publishing Lilburn's piano music in the 1970's. Having worked with Lilburn directly on these early publications, Biss has now revisited original source materials in the preparation of this series. Together, the editors have carefully considered and clarified Lilburn's manuscripts and early publications in preparing these volumes as both scholarly and practical editions for performance. This first volume comprises Lilburn's highly individual early Sonata (1949) and a collection of some twenty sketches, studies and personal tributes first published as Occassional Pieces in 1975. 'Rich pickings for any of the new breed of pianist prepared to reach for the less obvious. They will be rewarded and so will the listener." Rob Barnett, Musicweb International.
All of Rachmaninoff's Preludes (Prelude in C# minor, Op. 3, No. 2, Ten Preludes, Op. 23, 13 Preludes, Op. 32) are included in this Belwin-Mills edition, and all of the twenty-four major and minor keys are represented in these works. The "Preludes" are among the finest examples of 20th century romanticism for the piano.
