A sensational assembly of salacious stories selected from the secret shelves of the libraries of libertines, long-gone gentlemen, rakes and roues. These pages are patinated with the pulsating passion of vigorous youths, willing wenches, innocent initiates, meddling madames and vicarious voyeurs. The passionate participants, the actors and actresses of these romances, the heroes and heroines of these tales all seem to need little encouragement to indulge in their ribald and riotous recreation.Few avenues of amorous adventure and exotic experiment will be left unexplored. Here some great and some prudently anonymous authors inspired by inventive imagination and, probably, personal experience lay out their works of fantasy for your edification.
Erotic literature comprises fictional and factual stories and accounts of human sexual relationships which have the power to or are intended to arouse the reader sexually. Other common elements are satire and social criticism. The invention of printing, in the 15th century, brought with it both a greater market and increasing restrictions, like censorship and legal restraints on publication on the grounds of obscenity. Because of this, much of the production of this type of material became clandestine. August Nemo has selected seven classic tales of eroticism that are part of the history of human sexual culture: - Daphnis and Chloe by Longus - Idylll by Guy de Maupassant - Beatrice Palmato by Edith Wharton - Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch - The Lustful Turk by Anonymous - Sub-Umbra by Anonymous - How He Lost His Whiskers: An Episode in the Life of Steve Broad by Anonymous For more books with interesting themes, be sure to check the other books in this collection!

H. Lawrence, first published privately in 1928 in Italy, and in 1929 in France and Australia. An unexpurgated edition was not published openly in the United Kingdom until 1960, when it was the subject of a watershed obscenity trial against the publisher Penguin Books. Venus in Furs is a novella by the Austrian author Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, and the best known of his works. The novel was to be part of an epic series that Sacher-Masoch envisioned called Legacy of Cain. Venus in Furs was part of Love, the first volume of the series. It was published in 1870. The novel draws themes, like female dominance and sadomasochism, and character inspiration heavily from Sacher-Masoch's own life. Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure—popularly known as Fanny Hill (an anglicisation of the Latin mons veneris, mound of Venus)—is an erotic novel by English novelist John Cleland first published in London in 1748. Written while the author was in debtors' prison in London, it is considered "the first original English prose pornography, and the first pornography to use the form of the novel". "The Romance of Lust - A Classic Victorian Erotic Novel" is an 1873 erotic novel of anonymous authorship. It follows the exploits of Charlie, a virile and well-endowed young man with an apparently boundless appetite for sex. He chronicles his various sexual encounters involving his sisters Eliza and Mary, his governesses, and other various male and female friends. The narrative is saturated with taboo subjects, and it almost seems that none are omitted: orgies, masturbation, lesbianism, flagellation, fellatio, cunnilingus, gay sex, anal sex, and double penetration all appear at some point. An unparalleled and a wholly satisfying reading experience, "The Romance of Lust" is a classic Victorian erotic novel not to be missed by fans and collectors of the genre. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in a modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new introduction on the history of erotic literature.
